How do you plan to protect yourselves/stockpile should the worst happen?

Don't really mean a no deal Brexit. More like nuclear war/rioting and looting/apocalypse etc.

So, should the world go tits up, how will you protect yourself and your assets? The truth is, should the worst happen, unless you've got weapons to fight off other humans/zombies, you are going to be up shit creek anyway?

(This is a genuine thought of mine - I am half heartedly prepping as it does seem slightly pointless if someone is going to come along and pinch it all using violence.)

Any ideas on a ideal bug out vehicle I was told any older type 4 w d without electronics that a sonic blast could whip out would do.

I used to work for Landrover. I know Defenders are shitty but they run forever. Toyota Landcruisers as well. The fewer bells and whistles the better. The only thing is fuel consumption. Older vehicles use a lot of petrol and oil.

You can get anti-attack spray in the UK: it stinks and “tags” the attacker and is really loud, but in the instance of an increase in “public unrest” it would help. A less noisy solution is just a spray of some kind: furniture polish, bleach spray etc (or vinegar as someone else mentioned). Plus a good old pocket full of soil/sand (which anyone who had ever watched any film ever will hope works!).

Zip ties or duct tape to restrain anyone in your home.

Weapons that don’t look like weapons (umbrellas, metal pens). I work in some less than desirable locations and always have a pen in one pocket and my keys in my hand! Oh, and steel toe caps ;)

Like someone else said: split your supplies, look like you have nowt, and scavenge blackberries off hedges like everyone else!

We don't have a car, so any bugging out would be a in the near to us environment! Anyone know any good links to moorlands survival? (I might have looked at google maps to see the closest access to footpaths near water and woods etc...)

Our house is very non-descript, in a small semi-rural setting. I wouldn't expect us to be the first victims of civil unrest. In my more anxious moments I have been thinking of putting some emergency stuff, meal replacement stuff (more compact than actual foods) and water somewhere else than where I keep actual foods. DH and I also used to do martial arts for a hobby, and have both steel-capped boots and handy tools at our disposal. :P

mmmgoats

Can you actually drive? Is it just a license thing? Depending on the situation you may be best just ignoring the fact you don’t have a license
