Or maybe my real life has spilled over into prepping! I check my pension/job loss financial situation more often than I care to admit Blush

I don't think I see them as different. I've spent my life - since I was aware of that sort of thing which was early on - living under the threat of imminent nuclear armageddon. Now there are additional potential problems.

You can't allow it to paralyse you, though. Was it Gandhi who said 'Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever' ? I think he may well have had it right.

I'm self.employed which I guess affects how I act re my finances. But I do like to have a life plan even if its constantly changing.

Just wondering I prepping is just an extension of that or vice versa.

It doesnt noticably because Dh is so not into it. I have lists, and a lot of stuff in my head!

But like you OP I am preparing our finances. The most likely Armageddon situation i think we might realistically experience is a financial crisis, again, but worse than the last one.

As a result of the credit crunch, I've spent the last 5 or 6 years trying to get our financial affairs more stable. I don't want a load of debt if a really big crash happens. We have paid over £100,000 off our mortgage now, and I personally have no debt. Dh has got loads on credit cards, and doesnt care, but as he is the sole earner I can't nag him about it. I've been thinking about getting back into the workplace, although we don't currently need me to, just to pay mortgage down more quickly.

That must be hard your oh having such a diff attitude to it to you. My OH isn't prepping at such but he agrees its better not to have debt, to save and live under our means so we have a back up if something happens like job loss, recession etc.

Other than making sure we have stuff for the more likely emergencies i.e. torches, batteries, candles, loo roll, water storage, heating/cooking equipment (most of which we have because we go camping, anyway), I'm not sure it does really spill over into my life.

I think being interested in preparedness does mean you're more likely to be aware of what's going on around you though.
