Good prepped/ Apocalypse books films.
I know I enjoy these but I can't think of many off the top of my head.
Any recommendations?

Watching now, many thanks Grin

It's quite a useful watch, as is the American version; certainly dispels the complacency of those living near shops. Nobody is going to be polite over the last loaf of bread, and nobody is going share it either.

Woo more recommendations, excellent.

I've just ordered The Preppers Handbook Ze, thanks for recommendation.

Now all I have to do is find a similar sized dust cover we have at home to cover it to prevent any Confused Confused faces from Dh. He is so not a prepper.

Mine just arrived, it's a huge book! Looking forward to a quiet evening reading it.

Just managed to watch the end of the UK blackout, it was good. I'll try to watch the us one as well to see how guns change things. I want to make a version where I live, I think will be much less dramatic and involve lots of coffee and cake as people potter about waiting for power to come back on. Could be good for us as we have a well maybe we could trade for something - not sure what, id feel like a dick not letting friends take water for free if they needed it.

Ooh is the handbook any good? I Would also have to hide the cover from DH. I Have added to the food stockpile a bit today. Smile

It looks good, v comprehensive, and I like how it's divided into logical sections.

ArmchairTraveller · 08/11/2015 08:49

This is a useful cookbook for those less hardy preppers who don't want to live on MRE and jerky. Smile I've tried a lot of the recipes and have annotated and tweaked where necessary for my family.

I loved Last Light, and Children of the Dust (its a teen novel but wrote so well) its split into three books each about a young teen/adult during and after a radiation fall out, bit bleak but very well wrote. I also enjoyed the passage and the road. Will be watching this thread with great interest:) i

This is good - very entertaining but also thought provoking and informative.

Who is the author for after the fire? I tried amazon but got loads of hits and none seemed what I'm looking for...

Zetetic · 09/11/2015 12:18

John Lockley Smile

Thanks

Didn't think it was all the romantic books about firemen Wink

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 13/11/2015 15:46

The "White Flag of the Dead" series (8 so far) and the (so far) three "Generation Dead" books that follow on are brilliant.
They're by Joseph Talluto and are about the only zombie books I actually re-read because they're well written and exciting.

Speederman · 27/11/2015 12:41

Just finished some books:

Children of the dust- quite good. Post nuclear war

Station Eleven- good. Post pandemic

Slated (Terri Terry) trilogy- set in a near future UK after civil unrest. Excellent- could not stop reading them

Mind games (also T Terry) - set in future. excellent read

Now I need to find some more!
