my first son was born at 37 weeks i was induced because of cholestasis he is a happy and healthy 20 month old now, i then had a misscarage at 6 weeks then with my next had prom at 20 weeks i continued with the pregnancy an gave birth at 26 weeks didn't have steroids because the day i went in to hospital for them he decided to come very quickly in the loo, he wasn't breathing when he was born but the doctors revived him he spent 10 weeks on the neo natal unit in liverpool womens hospital but sadly died on the 19th march. im just terrified to go through that again, i need to know how likely it is to happen again?

So sorry to hear about your little one.

I don't think they can tell you how likely it is to happen again. There are some people who seem to have early babies and some who will have an early one, whether it's first or second and go on to have full term pregnancies.

You've carried a baby to 37 weeks before which is practically full term so your body can do it.

Have you had chance to sit down with the consultants/midwives and go through your notes to discuss what happened and possible reasons for it. They're the people who will be able to give you the best answers.

carlacally me too. DS = 35 weeks (PPROM), DD = PPROM at 17 weeks (didn't make it ). By some researchers calculation I think I am statistically 20% more likely to have a premature birth, you will only be 5% as you have technically really only had one premature birth. Now after tests I found out there is a poss reason why I PPROMed in my 2nd pregnancy and possibly also my first, and there is something they can do to reduce that risk.

hat about you? Did they find anything wrong with your son or did they find he had an infection? For example there are lots of ways you can reduce risk of infection which can lead to PROM. And if they find no reason - it is really not very likely to happen again. They'll be monitoring you really closely too. Before I had my test and DD's PM results back I freaked myself out on the internet trying to find out how to stop it from happening again. It's actually part of the grieving process you are going through for your son x
