Hi All, I'm hoping someone can relate and we can support each other as I'm a very stressed first time mum and I need constant reassurance that DD will be ok 🤞🏻

Due April 17th, my waters broke at 34w+2 6 times within 1hr in small portions every 10mins. We went to MAU straightaway to get checked with very light period like pains. Very quickly pains progressed to the stage I was feeling faint sweaty and unable to manage. I got to 4cm however my blood pressure/heart rate and temperature was so low I developed sepsis and hypothermia and my veins were not giving any blood making it impossible to get the steroid injection for the baby. Babies CTG was not looking good and drs made immediate decision for emergency c section and DD was born within minutes of getting the spinal injection. She was born purple and had respiratory difficulties from not being given the steroid.

Baby girl was transferred to a specialist NICU in Derby where she's on CPAP 24/7 and tube fed. She is 3 days old now and can be without CPAP for about 40mins a day and get colostrum/milk fed via the tube every 2hrs. Unfortunately there is an unexplainable drop happening in her heart rate every now and then but at least 4-5 times a day where her heart rate goes from average of 140 to 30 then corrects itself back up to normal. The doctor don't know why this happens.

I am so stressed I just want the best for my baby to get well. Has anyone been in a similar situation at all ? 😢

one of mine was born at similar and it was so stressful and worrying in those early days but each week made such a difference. Hopefully you’ll soon start seeing everything stabilise as she grows.

Gosh you poor thing especially the sepsis - terrifying. Wishing you both a speedy recovery. Fwiw My 34 weeker is now 5 foot 8 towers above her peers looks like a supermodel and is rarely ill.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter💐. While it’s good to connect with other parents, try and communicate consistently with the clinical staff looking after your little girl. They are best placed to offer you reassurance, and will always give realistic assessments based on clinical presentation, which is not really possible for Mumsnet. Just remember though, it can be quite a roller coaster as clinically things can change quickly and often (both ways) in little ones so if they are giving different advice, it doesn’t mean they don’t know, or can’t make their minds up, it’s that advice is relevant at that particular minute.

Hoping all goes well, onward and upward and you get to take your little girl home in the not too distant future.
