High chair for tiny person

Hi, I'm looking for a high chair for a really little baby. What is the smallest that's out there on the open market?

Weaning is age appropriate but he's just wee so standard high chairs /bumbos etc are too big.

And advice?

Tia

How small is he? DS was still tiny when we started weaning but was fine in an ikea highchair with an insert. He also often just sat on the floor with a plate when he first started weaning which could be another option.

Second the ikea chair and you can pad it out with towels etc to make it even smaller provided baby is able to sit with support

He's the size DS was when he was born. Around 10lb. I think padding may be the way to go. Thank you.

Without knowing age etc I like the Stokke Chair with the newborn set. It's more like a high bouncy chair. Baby can be at the table and see everything, starting on solids can be a piece of a vegetable or bread in the hand to wave around the place or chew.

We ended up getting a little ingenuity seat with tray. About £30 and it's been a godsend. She used it until she was big enough to go into the highchair and as it goes up to toddler, she still uses it for picnics and when we visit other people's house as it can live in the car! Also super handy to pop her in upstairs if I need to get something done and she's wanting to cause mischief at 10 months...!

Another vote for the IKEA one with insert and extra padding as needed. My 2nd was too small for the high chair we used with my 1st and at 9 mo she is only now looking comfortable in it. The ikea one worked well for her though. At the start she needed something underneath her too so she was raised up a bit to reach tray more comfortably.

Our John Lewis highchair comes with an insert that should be suitable even for the teeniest baby.

DD was premature and tiny. We used just a big standard highchair from Argos but uses the highchair insert from Ikea and bumped the bottom up with a folded blanket. She's slowly growing into it now.

Definitely ikea with the inflatable insert. DS was around 13lb I think when we started weaning and sat well in it Smile

IKEA one with insert was used for DS. Hard to remember him being that tiny... We might have also stuffed a rolled up towel in too to offer extra support!

The stokke Tripp trapp. You can buy a baby insert cushion to wedge him him. I wouldn’t get the newborn seat for it though if he’s eating, as it reclines like a bouncer

Pruella · 21/07/2022 06:14

We did ikea with towels to fill the gaps as the insert wasn’t enough. He grew really fast after weaning though we didn’t need them very long.

AperolWhore · 21/07/2022 06:21

Tripp Trapp with newborn adaptor unit 100% it grows with the child so they can use it until they are 4/5 and even then the chair pair holds a grown adult.

Pruella · 21/07/2022 06:26

I wouldn’t feed a child in the Tripp Trapp newborn seat - that’s not what it’s designed for and they wouldn’t be upright enough.

I bought the Joie mimzy but the tray came up to her shoulders! I cut out some foam and made a 3 inch thick booster pad for her to sit on. I also sewed a cover for it so it could be washed too
