It’s a virus so the severity can change like all viruses depending on the infant and circumstances.

one of mine had it and was very poorly - but it’s a routine infection for paediatricians and the treatment is amazing. Few days of steroids and he was right as rain.

Did he have to stay in hospital x

He did, he was 6 weeks old and so they kept him in for 2 nights - but they don’t always need to have that.

are you at hospital or at home?

How premature was he? What was reason he had to stay in x8

No, he wasn’t prem, he was a fortnight late and nearly 10lbs!

they know what they are doing with RSV, the treatment is brilliant. It is really hard to watch them work to catch their breath, though.

is it your wee one who’s got it? What is your worry? I am happy to answer questions if I can

Ours got RSV and it became bronchiolitis. Very scary. She was 35 weeks with a collapsed lung at birth, but got rsv around 1. Watch out for belly breathing/laboured breathing, it sounded like ours was breathing through an inhaler when it was really bad. If it gets worrying take yours right into hospital. We only needed a few hours of real care, deep suction to get the gunk out of her lungs and stomach, and albuterol (inhaler) to help her lungs, ur it was so scary at the time. Sending hugs x

madeleine85 did she have to stay overnight in hospital.

Yeah she stayed in 1 might. By 10pm she was bouncing around the cot in there and we knew she was fine. So really I’d say she needed treatment from 6am to 6pm then a night to monitor to make sure. They did say that usually with rsv days 3-5 are the worst, then they rapidly turn a corner and improve. How is yours doing?
