Hi all,

I've a schedule c-section next week and will be 36w. Appreciate it is hardly premature, but is there somebody who can share experiences/tips/advice?

Thanks xx

My DS was born at 34w and DS 36w.

They're toddlers now and are both doing great. Within a few months you'll have completely forgotten Baby was a bit early, they catch up fast.

Can't really think of any tips or advice other than take as much help as you can get! Rest plenty. Enjoy your spare time as much as you can before baby comes.

And enjoy! All the best!

Both my children were born at 36 weeks. 1st one by forceps and 2nd naturally. We were kept in for 2 days after just to make sure they were OK. But apart from 1st having jaundice that required treatment, they have both been extremely healthy. 1st did need have delayed speech too.

Dd2 was 36 plus six

Was on the smaller side but that was due to complications rather than gestation.

Issues were poor suck reflex - dummy helped she tired easily feeding as a result ( cmpi didnt help either but that could aid does happen with a 41 weaker too so the cmpi is probably not down to gestation either )

Trouble with body temp and sugar levels but we were allowed home after 24 hours .

You may need to be in special care for a few days. If so then be aware that there will be babies there who appear to have significant problems or be very small. It is unlikely that they are sick, otherwise they’d be in intensive care, but it can be a shock. I’ve seen parents of 35+ weekers in tears when the alarms have gone off for other babies, but it’s quite normal. Your hormones will probably be all over the place too.

All the best, enjoy your newborn snuggles!
