Hello, my daughter was born at 33+4, she is now 8 weeks and therefore 2 weeks corrected. I don't feel like I've had much info about the whole corrected age thing.

Is she 8 weeks or two weeks?? Should she sleep like a two month old or a two week old?? In her awake time she seems miserable but doesn't want to interact?

Also-Eating? She is nearly 10lb- how long should she go between feeds?

I just don't know what I should expect of her?unfortunately I'm not really the type to go with the flow and just see what happens.

Any advice or experiences of similar age babies would be greatly appreciated!!

Dd3 was born at 35 weeks at 4lbs 14oz.

Was told by the hospital that until she was1 yearlong et development might be a bit delayed by a few weeks but by 1 she would have caught up with herself.

In her newborn days she slept a LOT, more than other babies born at term. She also was a few weeks behind the first couple of milestones eg following with her eyes and smiling etc

She is now 6.5 months, a total delight, and developmentally seems to have totally caught up with herself. You would never know now that she was 5 weeks early and such a tiny spelk :)

Agree with everyone else - go by corrected age, for everything except jabs and weaning.

DD (34 weeks) wouldn't sleep anywhere except on my chest for several months. I think you just need to give them what they seem to need for a while. At this age it's more important that they get the sleep and can develop and catch up (and avoid the horrible overtiredness vicious cycle) than that they learn to self settle.

Also bear in mind prems are more likely to have a bit of physical discomfort than term babies (digestive issues especially) so they probably need a bit more comfort to sleep than a term baby would.

Anyway lots of full term babies won't self settle and are cuddled to sleep! Do take the books with a pinch of salt.

Sorry to hear about the ear infection, hope she gets over it soon.

Do you have a sling? We had a wrap sling for Dd1 and it was amazing. She spent a huge amount of time in it and changed her from grizzling Gerty into a more content bundle within minutes.
