Nappies for very Prem Great Neice weighing 1.5lb

My very beautiful great neice was born 3 weeks ago at only 25 weeks, she wasn't due until March, and as you'd expect its been a very stressful time. She seems to be doing very well at the moment, and we have found some clothes for her, but am having problems finding small enough nappies. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Boots do a prem baby nappy however not sure how small they actually are. Congratulations im glad she is doing well hope she grows stronger every day

Does the neonatal unit not provide them for you? That's a bit harsh! If not Pampers do a size zero that fits 5lbs and under... but they're liable to be too big for a while yet. Try searching prem nappies on Amazon we got former 27-weeker DD's there after she was discharged weighing a grand 4lbs. When she was tinier the hospital provided them all.

Hi, my dd was 1lb 11, and the SCBU didn't provide nappies either, we just had to buy the smallest in Boots and lie her in them, or fold them down.

Congratulations on the arrival of your great niece vintage but I'm sorry that she arrived so early and that you and your family are going through this stressful time.

My daughter was born at 23+4 in 2008, weighing 1lb 7oz. She's four now, just started school.

The NICU used to provide very small nappies for us but occasionally they would 'phone and ask me to buy some. I always bought Pampers in the micro size which are for 2-5lbs. They were slightly too big initially but you can always fold them down as Southern says.

My DD was in pampers micro for weeks and the only place I could get them with mothercare. They were too big initially but the ones SCBU recommended.

I'm pretty shocked all of you have/ had to supply your own nappies! As people have pointed out, nappies for a baby that small are not actually available on the open market! We were certainly lucky in not having to provide nappies until our DS was actually home, but in NICU?! I wonder how widespread this is. It seems an actual health issue too - surely a baby this small needs to be in the right size nappies, not swamped in ones too big for it.

We had to provide our own nappies too for DD2 who was born at 32 weeks 3 years ago. The Pampers Prem range in various tiny sizes were sold in the hospital shop.
DD1 who was born at 24 weeks 7 years previously and had been in the same unit had her nappies provided by the hospital all the way through her stay in hospital.
With DD2 we assumed it was all down to cost saving and obviously the hospital made money from the sale of the nappies too. I can't remember now how much they were but I do remember that they were more expensive than normal sized ones.
