Telephone appt tomorrow with BPAS

Hiya I’ve commented on a few posts already. Basically I’m early 40s, already got children with ex-partner. Ended up pregnant from a short lived fling. I’ve really sat and thought long and hard and there is no way that I can emotionally, mentally physically or financially have another baby. I can’t go to my local hosp as I work there and I don’t want everyone to know my business. I have seen bpas mentioned on here so contacted them and have my appt tomorrow. I am currently 5+1. Has anyone used bpas and been able to collect the meds the same day rather than get them posted out. I also have my children at home. Realistically if I took the meds at night when they are asleep do you think it is manageable? I have quite heavy painful periods anyway but some of the stories I’ve read people are saying the pains worse than childbirth. The only other option would be to wait over a week away when I will be nearly 7 weeks and go and stay at a friends for the night (they are currently away so not an option this weekend). Thanks so much to anyone who replies.

Also would it be less bleeding and less pain taking them at 5+2 than at nearly 7 weeks when Itl be more developed.

I had one at 7 weeks, the pain was bad yes but manageable, they should give you Cocodamol and have a hot water bottle with you (I couldn't find mine when I did it!). From what I've heard it would have been easier at 5 weeks, more like a heavy period. If I were in your position I would do it early at home. The bleeding mostly happened when I went to sit on the toilet compared to lying on a bed. Not sure I'd want to be doing it at a friend's house.

It’s more so I’m away from my kids I think I’m just gonna do it as soon as it’s delivered. Thanks for replying.

Yes, I can understand that but on the balance I'd probably go with the sooner the better and in your own home. For me it was a lot of back and forth between the bed and the toilet for 3-4 hours. I do believe at 5 weeks it will be less for you. Sending you all the support, it will be over in a few hours from the second round of tablets, if you start as soon as kids go to sleep, then you can sleep it off and it will all be over by the morning. You'll be okay, physically it wasn't as bad on the whole as I thought.

I used BPAS earlier this year and they were really good about explaining all the options clearly. I was able to collect the meds from the clinic on the same day after my phone appointment, so it might be worth asking if that’s possible for you too.
I took mine in the evening once my kids were in bed and for me it was manageable, more like a very heavy period with bad cramps. I stocked up on pads, hot water bottles, painkillers and made sure I had snacks and water nearby. Everyone’s experience is a bit different but being at home and having privacy helped me a lot.
If you’re worried, let BPAS know your situation with work and the kids at home, they’re very understanding and can often suggest the most practical timing. You’re not alone in this and you’re doing the right thing by reaching out and preparing ahead.
