RSV vaccine

Hi all (kind comments only please as I know these threads turn into toxic conversations)

im not an antivaxer. I’ve had all the vaccinations that both I or my baby needs. When I was pregnant in 2021 we didn’t have the RSV vaccine. My son never got it either.

im now 34 weeks pregnant and still unsure if I should have it. Not because it might be unsafe or anything but because I’m having a baby in April (same as my first) and the vaccine only offers 6 month protection to the baby which is the whole summer period so my brain so sort of telling me what’s the point when that’s not the flu/cold season.

I know almost all pregnant women are getting the vaccine as I’ve read up on it but just wondering if any of these women have had babies yet? And if so is everything okay? Did you have any reactions etc.

my mum said I should do whatever I feel is right but at the same time don’t get everything just for the sake of it (for example don’t take painkillers as a preventative measure. Take it when you need it type of thing).

ive never heard of RSV until I was 28 weeks pregnant and heard some horrible stories. But also heard stories where babies reacted very mildly to RSV etc.

just in 2 minds really and want to hear more of people’s views.

many thanks 👍

Hey, you mentioned you want to know if there’s anyone who recently had a baby and did the rsv vaccine so I’m commenting my experience. I just had my baby girl in December and I had the rsv vaccine during the pregnancy. I was also unsure about it because it was my first time hearing about it but I did it after they explained how dangerous it is when babies catch it so I decided to go ahead and do it. My baby is almost 3 months old now. She hasn’t had any side effects or issues or any sickness so everything is good I guess. Congratulations on your pregnancy mama, have a good think about it and decide. I was thinking Babies are sensitive and some babies still get sick during warm seasons but your so right the flu/cold isn’t common at all at that time but it’s up to you hun, don’t worry too much x
wishing you all the best x
