Hi so I've never really typed something like this before but i am in complete loss of what to do,
I'm expecting my first child 2 in months and i am wondering whether to allow the hospital to vaccinate my child, When i was born my parents refused any vaccines, including measles etc and cold and flu when I was growing up and offered it in school. I really am not sure? My boyfriend was vaccinated but has no strong opinions to be for or against?
Any advice?

I would go for the vaccinations. Measles is rife these days, much more so than in recent decades, and children, especially young children, can and do die from it. I think if you don't want your child to become seriously ill, vaccinations are the way to go.

Absolutely vaccinate. There are multiple life-threatening illnesses that you are risking your child catching if you don't allow them to get the vaccine. I had chicken pox when I was 11 years old and although it is rarely fatal, I was so glad that my child could be vaccinated and would never have to suffer with that. And as Rita said, measles is awful and can result in brain damage and death. You can talk to a trusted doctor if you need more reassurance. Congrats on your pregnancy! Nothing can prepare you for how much you will love your baby.

Absolutely please vaccinate. Even if the illnesses are not as common , if you get some of them as a child or even older child they can be very fatal. Would dread to think about how it would feel if your child were to get something that could have been prevented. Not only that but it helps to stop the spread of the illnesses for everybody else. Herd immunity and all that.

I opted to not get either of my children any form of injection for the first few weeks of life (vit d suppliment and something else I can't remember) however Absolutely did do the heel prick and vaccinated them. I felt more comfortable choosing these options knowing that they had a few weeks of developing some form of resistance from colostrum ect . Perhaps this sort of choice might sit better with you?
