Hi,

sorry don’t know the technical name
for this procedure so Apologies in advance if it offends anyone, I have one of these
booked in after chickening out on my 2nd round of abortion tablets, just couldn’t do it at home for hours in end without a medical
enviroment! Anyone had one and could possibly tell me what it was like?

Thanks everyone, hoping it won’t be too bad, I just worked myself up to the 2nd lot of tablets at home, if I was offered more than ibuprofen and was in a hospital environment I may have felt different, but the idea that woman do this at home in the worst pain possible with other side effects just scared me too much

Has anyone that hasn’t already answered also gone through childbirth previously?

I wanted to know if pain compares?

i have heard various options, gas and air to help or painkiller up bum, I presume same as I had after childbirth..

just want to prepare myself as best as I can without this gold awful anxiety.

At worst you’ll possibly have period like cramps

Scribbless99 · 05/06/2024 15:25

That’s what they say with early
labour pain 🤣 and that shit hurts, but because you have gas and air its
manageable x

When I had a previous miscarriage that happened on its own, the pain was bad but nowhere near like childbirth. It was bad for a period of time (probs an hour) but when everything passed it was ok. That miscarriage was at 6 weeks so was like an extremely heavy period.

The missed miscarriage I had, the cramps afterwards were like bad period pains. Nothing like childbirth but like someone had been inside and had been prodding around. So extremely uncomfortable for me personally but absolutely manageable with soluble co codamol

Sorry I should have said the missed miscarriage where I had the surgical procedure.
I was 12 weeks. Not sure if that makes a difference to the pain you have after or not.

Yes absolutely nothing like childbirth, Jesus far far far away from the pain in comparison

If you are 6w the second tablets won’t be that bad. Of course there will be pain and you will pass the pregnancy at home, but it will feel like a blood clot and it will most likely come out the toilet. Under 10 weeks it isn’t recognisable - but I understand if you would prefer to go down the surgical route for your mental health.

I have given birth before and after my termination. The pain is no where near childbirth! If you were having a late term abortion, then maybe - but the physical pain feels like strong period cramps. Ibuprofen worked for me. Personally the emotional pain was worse - so do what you need to do to make yourself comfy and treat yourself well. Give yourself time to sleep through the pain also.

Good luck with it all.
