Risks of surgical vs medical removal of miscarriage

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and was told it was a missed miscarriage. I was very distraught and chose a surgical option for Monday.

I'm now second guessing this and wonder if I should have chosen the tablets instead.

Does anyone have any stats on the risks of either? My pre-op concent form says more than 1 in 20 women get scarring. I cant get through to the hospital, and any stats I find are from anti abortion charities which I don't trust.

I want to choose the option that allows me to get pregnant soon and have a healthy pregnancy.

Hello,

Sorry you are going through this. I don't have any information regards statics etc. Just have experience.

I had a missed miscarriage in October, I opted for the medical and had the pills. This seemed to work, although I had an incomplete miscarriage and then was recommended to have the pills again. This also failed so I ended up having the surgical option in November.

For me, it was a long process. If I am unfortunate to have to go through it again I will go straight for surgical. Each person has different experiences.

I am currently just over 7 weeks pregnant. 🤞

@inthewest I found this website which gives information and statistics regarding all types of abortions; I found the FAQ section at the end particularly useful ❤️

I'm booked in for a surgical abortion under general anesthetic on Thursday - I'll be 11 weeks.

I hope you're doing ok, and sending you lots of strength 💐
