Hi all, I am just after some opinions really. Little bit about myself first, I’m 25 years old and 23 weeks pregnant, expecting my 1st child. All has been fine so far during pregnancy touch wood. However, on my 20 week scan, I was told I was going to be consultant led as it’s my first pregnancy and my bmi is 38 meaning I’m at a higher risk of having preeclampsia. The consultant prescribed me a dose of 2 aspirin tablets a day to help my blood flow through my placenta to baby. This worried me a little, as I was always told to avoid medication as much as possible whilst pregnant as it can pass to baby. I don’t even take a paracetamol if I can help it, so feel as though aspirin is a little harsh and may have a negative effect for me or baby? Can anybody help, have you had this same thing happen? My midwife hasn’t been too helpful, they just make me feel a bit irresponsible for not taking it but me, my partner and family feel as though it shouldn’t be necessary as I’m 25y/o, healthy, non smoker, fair enough I’m overweight but other than that I’m fit and healthy, my diet isn’t appalling and I’m trying my best to make all of the right decisions for baby whikst pregnant. Please can someone put my mind at ease!
