Medical abortion at 5 weeks

Anyone else gone through this at 5 weeks? I've not had a massive about of bleeding and the pain was quite minimal, I did feel feverish for a while though but took ibuprofen which seemed to help that.

Tuesday 4pm - took mifepristone orally
Yesterday 5pm - took 4 misoprostrol vaginally - some very light bleeding and mild cramping
Yesterday 8.30pm - took 2 misoprostrol vaginally
Then I started to have stronger stomach cramps but just like period pains really, then I felt feverish and took ibuprofen, went to the toilet about half 11 and not much bleeding on my pad but a lot came out in the toilet. Couldn't see any big clots but it did look like a lot of blood and some small clots.

I'm bleeding quite lightly now, I'm hoping that it has worked and it's just because I'm quite early on that I haven't had quite the horrible experience I expected!

im not sure who you went through but do they have a support line at all you could call? Marie Stopes have been really lovely and I called a couple of times about a few concerns and they advised what to do. They should be able to tell you what’s best but on my information leaflet it said to put one either side in your mouth between your gums and cheek and leave them there for 30mins and then swallow them with some water if not much had happened after 3hrs x

Literally just started to bleed x

I went through BPAS and it wasn’t an option to not take the second set (2 pills) after inserting the first 4. They just tell you to do it regardless so I probably would! I hope you are ok. I had the same with intense pain then after thinking something had passed it was just dull cramps so that could be it! X

SEJ1789 · 05/06/2022 19:49

@Sunshine3726 i’m doing ok so far. Had a few tears but still feel confident with my choice. Just sick of the bleeding already and period like cramps but it’s only day 4 so hopefully it calms down soon. Pushed myself a bit too much yesterday I think and totally wiped out today. Hope your feeling ok x

Jumping on this thread! I took the 4 misoprostol two hours ago and only have very very mild cramping, no spotting or anything?! Anyone else has a similar experience?

SEJ1789 · 22/06/2022 11:23

@itsonlyme44 i think MSI said take your additional 2 pills (hold between cheek cheek and gums for 30mins before swallowing) after 2hours (I think) if you have had little to no bleeding. I thought I had passed mine around 2 hours but they advised to take them anyway. Just give your provider a call if they have a support line, I found them really helpful xx

I don't live in the UK, here we just get 4 and they say 1-24 hours is normal!

SEJ1789 · 22/06/2022 14:04

sorry to hear that hopefully you will have something start to happen soon. Honestly I think you will know if you pass it as I had very bad cramps like I haven’t felt Before and then it went back to normal period cramps. Just make sure you speak to someone tomorrow
if they won’t give you any advice today to get the support you need. Xx

thanks for checking in @brownbeauty80 I’m having a bit of a crap day to be honest. Did my 3 week post test and bam still positive this morning. MSI said it can take 3-6 weeks to test negative but have me booked in for a scan next Friday. When will this be bloody over 😔 I haven’t got symptoms but have started to get a bit crampy and back ache barely had anything to start with but gassy and sore boobs but not extremely and cramping) they have gone now so I’m hoping I’m just holding onto the hormone a bit too much. Another week of waiting to find out now. I genuinely felt like it worked so will be so upset if I have to go through this again

brownbeauty80 · 22/06/2022 21:13

Aaawww hun... sorry to hear that...

I know this post was over a month ago, but wondering what your outcome was @SEJ1789 ? I’m in a similar situation, took all the tablets, had bad cramping and some bleeding when sat on the toilet but barely anything the next day. I’ve had a failed medical abortion years ago and ended up with surgical, just worried I’ll be going down the same route due to lack of bleeding. Thanks.

brownbeauty80 · 30/07/2022 21:52

Hope ur all doing ok ladies...
pls do update...
😘

Autumnwater87 · 31/07/2022 15:48

@Justanothermum4 sorry only just seen this. I got on ok thank you. I got an appointment for a drop in at the msi clinic about a week later. I tested negative there (typical) but they still scanned me and it was successful which I was glad about. I’ve already started ovulating again and had my first period back a few weeks ago and hopefully should next week. Never thought I would be wishing for it but hopefully I’m back to my normal cycle

Justanothermum4 · 31/07/2022 16:16

Thank you for responding, think I’m just nervous it hasn’t worked as really only had light bleeding for the night that I took the second set of tablets, got light bleeding 48 hours later. Just wish I knew one way or the other! Everything you read online suggests that it’s heavy bleeding for a few hours afterwards and just didn’t get that! Glad all is well @SEJ1789

I m 5 weeks pregnant. But it is accidental pregnancy . It can be dissolve by medicine? N which medicine should intake?

Sunshinestate58 · 14/01/2024 14:55

I had a medical abortion - 5 -6 weeks pregnant. This isn’t my first. I shouldn’t compare but this one has been completely different, I feel so fatigued. Bad pain, small amount of bleeding in comparison to last time. One large clot. I just feel so unwell. The misoprostol caused me to have a fever and shivering for a few hours. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else felt unwell the following day? I just feel like I’ve been hit by a bud and could sleep for days. I’m back to work tomorrow so need a speedy recovery. Thanks

Hi. I know this is a pretty old thread so don't know if anyone will respond. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and got my pack through from BPAS this morning. I'm literally terrified as I have no idea what to expect so my anxiety is through the roof 😣
I have a fear of being ill so dreading it incase I'm sick. I'm hoping that because I'm early on things won't be that bad but I'm still scared. This is also my first abortion 😔

Sunshine3726 · 10/04/2024 21:31

@Lasty2017 Hi, I hope you are ok. Please scroll right back up to see my comments but I just want to reassure you that it's not always as awful as some of the posts online make out.

Mine was like a heavy period but I wasn't ill and nothing bad happened. If you have any questions let me know and I can try and help you x

Lasty2017 · 12/04/2024 10:22

@Sunshine3726 Hi. Thank you for responding. I took the pills yesterday 😌 pains started off a dull like period pain then got stronger over the next few hours. I had a few clots and took some codeine. Managed to get to sleep and woke up this morning with mild cramping but nothing as bad. I must of passed last night but didn't see anything noticeable.
I think I over read to many horror stories and worked myself up x
