Failed termination

Hi all, just some background.
I had a medical termination between 7/8 weeks and found the process total agony, even though after I felt like I hadn’t passed much at all. I contacted bpas the next day who said it was probably okay.

A few days later I felt unwell so contacted them again who said it sounded like infection to get anti biotics and needed to be re scanned.

At the scan I was told I had a lot of retained tissue and to repeat the medical abortion again with tablets. I did this, nothing much happened I just felt very unwell and ended up in a&e.

I went back to the clinic to be told I need to have it surgically removed as there is a lot of it. This is booked for next Thursday.

I haven’t stopped bleeding the whole time although it’s been up and down. Over the weekend I’ve had stronger cramps and a bit heavier bleeding, my post is to ask what to watch out for - how can I differentiate tissue from clots if I notice anything on my pad?

The lady at the clinic told me I would know when it’s tissue and there is a lot of it so I can’t miss it and it’s unlikely to pass all on its own but I am still hopeful it might or at least some of it so the surgical route is quicker / less painful.

Thank you for reading if you got this far x

When you go for your ERPC they will most likely scan you before you go into the treatment room
Then they can assess if you still need the procedure ... it's actually not so bad and will be very quick
Tissue / clots / bleeding it's all the same thing dont try to differentiate
The more that comes out .. the less there is left inside ..
This often shows itself at first period after abortion too
Just see it as Mother Nature cleaning everything out

Sorry you are going through this. I agree, it makes little difference to examine what comes out, because they will scan you prior to the D&C to see IF you still need it. To answer your question though, clots are usually dark red, like liver and will eventually dissolve in water. Tissue might be grey/ white or multicoloured with red, but usually has a different look, and often not as smooth as clots. Tissue won't dissolve in water either. Best of luck. Flowers
