Hi. I hope someone might be along to help calm me down as I just don’t know what to do.

After period being 7 days late I took a test today and its positive 😢 a clear blue saying 2-3 weeks which fits. I’m in total shock and can’t believe after the shit year I’ve had I’m facing this at 40.

I’m based in NI and was wondering if anyone had been through something similar? Contacted BPAS today who told me to ring Informing Choices NI who don’t open until Monday morning.

I think I’m around 4 weeks and now is just not the right time for a baby. I’m not telling anyone in real life so any hand holding is appreciated..

Bloody hell.. whats all this about closing travel corridors??? I’m due to fly friday morning back friday night for the procedure.

God I’m in bits now. What an idiot I’ve been.

Does the travel corridor still extend to NI? Hope you get sorted Op. Good luck!

Covidisdrivingmecrazy · 15/01/2021 19:27

Ni is in the uk don't worry

Wantthistobedone · 15/01/2021 19:34

I know - but I’m booked to fly out of Dublin (republic of ireland) not belfast...

Sorry should have said that. Now that Brexit has happened I’d be technically the EU landing in Britain. Fuck sake.

YnysMon20 · 15/01/2021 19:44

Can you change flights to Belfast? I wish I could help 😩

Wantthistobedone · 15/01/2021 19:54

I’m looking now; if I have to book a ferry, I will. In all fairness to BPAS they booked and paid for the flights but I absolutely don’t mind booking my own or driving down through Scotland to Manchester.

I’ll hang fast and ring them tomorrow. The situation here is beyond a joke. I rang Informing Choices monday morning and STILL haven’t spoken to anyone from the NHS or a health profressional. God I feel like I can’t breathe and like I’m having a panic attack. Plus I’m so sick and dizzy as I try and make toast for my DS, god even the smell of food is making me ill...

I can’t believe in 2021 women in NI still have to book planes to get to a place where they can have a safe abortion. No advice OP but wishing you good luck.

Wantthistobedone · 15/01/2021 20:06

Thank you. Its bloody ridiculous 💔 I’m a single parent and luckily my parents can have DS overnight as we’re in a bubble but no-one knows.

@Wantthistobedone isn't Ireland exempt from the travel corridor ban? Sorry if I've picked this up wrong but hopefully this can answer your question.

Wantthistobedone · 15/01/2021 21:40

Thats what I’m reading too. However I think you need to produce a negative covid test perhaps on arrival at each place? Jesus christ, in this day and age can you believe this? I honestly never understood how women could be so disregarded that they needed to take abortion pills that they ordered illegally online but I do now x

I'm so so sorry OP, you shouldn't have to go through this. I'm in NI now, from ROI and had a termination many years ago in an Asian country where I was thankfully living at the time. I was home in Ireland for a few weeks when I actually found out and went to a family planning clinic in Dublin. I'll never forget the rage and feeling of helpless objectification when the nurse was stunned I asked about my options and coldly told me you can't have an abortion in Ireland. I'm so glad that's change but NI is a fucking bastard for dragging it's heels. No woman should have a child forced on them. It's wrong.

Thecrashingwaves · 15/01/2021 21:57

Near the end of the article it says Ireland is exempt from needing to provide a negative Covid test.
Monday, travellers arriving in the UK will have to produce a negative test before leaving their point of departure. This will also not apply to people travelling from Ireland

I'm in N.I too and if needs be Randox in Crumlin or Holywood do Covid tests for £120.

Wantthistobedone · 15/01/2021 22:05

Thank you crashingwaves for finding that!! Right, that might not be so bad then, unless anything else changes. I cannot believe I’m in this mess to begin with which is stressful enough but to feel so alone and ashamed; and bloody ostracised when you speak to someone, is disgraceful.

NI is a bloody backwater, and a shit place to live in times like this because of the politics. God I wish I could sleep.

It is like the dark ages @Wantthistobedone - you will get sorted though so hang in there.

YnysMon20 · 16/01/2021 12:46

@Wantthistobedone hope you managed to get some sleep. I’m not sure if this helps, but the ferry’s to Holyhead are still running too and there’s a clinic in Chester (two hours from there) and Llandudno (50 mins).

SunnyDays3 · 16/01/2021 15:25

@Wantthistobedone I’m from NI and was in ur position in June and I didn’t know what to do or who to ring. But informing choices got me sorted in Ballymena with the NHS and it was a fairly simple process once it happened but I think I read that from September past they stopped it or paused it due to COVID and funding but I so know what ur going through it’s awful 😞 I hope u get to England on Friday and get this sorted x

Thecrashingwaves · 24/01/2021 19:24

@Wantthistobedone
