Health Vs termination

Hi so I have a health condition they don't know what's really going on. But I'm fed by a IV line as I cannot eat. I'm 46 kg and just found out I'm pregnant with twins.

I'm bed bound but have a supportive family. Part of the condition makes me very fatigued and IV no idea how I would look after twins. Let alone deal with my health.

I am very depressed with my condition.

I'm very late in to the pregnancy as only just found out. I'm almost 40 this might be my only chance. But I don't know if I can get through the pregnancy let alone when they are here.

Looking for advice

Well I guess that if they are born then there will always be various options you can take in the future. But if they aren't born then there are no more options. Sorry if that's too blunt a way to put it.

What's the prognosis with your health?

If you want to continue this pregnancy then you have to get some good solid advice on how you are going to manage.

If you are going to terminate, then it is going to be a tough call. I'm surprised that you've been told it will be a D&C under general anesthetic, at 18 weeks. Someone I know had a late termination for anencephaly at 20 weeks and had to give birth.

I wish you luck with your decision, I hope you have a good support network around you.

Thus is an example I found on the internet of local authorities supporting disabled parents. I guess most LAs will have similar information available.

I'll try again!

Have you only just found out you're pregnant?

perfumeistooexpensive · 06/10/2020 12:29

You are very fatigued because you are pregnant with twins. My DD was young and healthy, but was exhausted with a twin pregnancy. You want them you say. How would you feel at nearly 40 if you terminated? You can be a mother in many ways. Many disabled women manage with help. You are only a few weeks off viability. If your partner and family are willing to step up, why not give your babies a chance?

Hi, I was advised you terminate my last pregnancy for my health I refused....(no judgement if anyone chooses differently this was just right for me) short my ds2 was born at 24 weeks but he is now fine. I was left particularly paralysed, on good days I can walk, and you wouldn't know anything was 'wrong' except for my very still left arm, on bad days I use a wheelchair. I can drive in a specially adapted car.
How did I cope......honestly, because I wanted to. I have 3 other children. My family helped out, I have a cleaner. I developed a way of breast feeding my son when I was at my worst that minimised the strain on my body etc.
There are lots of disabled mums and support groups. Some of the suggestions are so helpful and there are a multitude of gadgets/charities available to help.
The decision is a tough one and only can choose, but I just wanted to let you know there are a lot of options and help available if you do go ahead.
I wish you all the best.
