Pain after surgical termination

Hello everyone,

You may have read my previous post a few weeks back, I decided to go for a termination in the end :( sadly I have some issues I need to resolve before bringing a child into the world.

I opted for the surgical option (vacuum aspiration I believe is the correct term) on Friday and although I seem to be barely bleeding I have been getting quite nasty painful cramps at night.

I'm a bit of a worrier and the BPAS '24 hr helpline' are not overly reassuring or helpful.

I guess I'm looking for a handhold and anyone else to reassure me this is quite normal so early on after the procedure x

Sorry you're going through such a tough time.

Maybe try the NHS 111 service, to see what they suggest?

Hi op.
I had a surgical termination years ago. I remember having bad cramps afterwards for at least 24 hours, maybe a little more

Thank you for your replies :)

I think I will have a day of rest today and if it continues into tomorrow I will go to the out of hours doctors via 111.

All else seems fine and as I say there is little to no bleeding just the cramping but wondering if it's my cervix adjusting - I had very similar pains in the first few weeks of pregnancy (in the evening too).

I had a surgical last week. I had cramps all week and had to take codeine. It's def everything returning to normal and just the result of things being raw down there. Hope you feel better soon
