Is it true that the earlier you have an abortion, the less the pain?

Is the above true? Can anyone share their experiences? I've had an abortion before and the pain was excruciating. However, this time it will be much earlier so I'm just wondering if the pain will be the same?

I had to have the same procedure effectively when I was 9 weeks pregnant but baby had only grown to 5 weeks in size, don't know if that makes a difference. It was a MMC. I have to say it was horrendously painful (like labour) but only lasted 45 mins, after that I was exhausted but fine.

Op can you not pump for a days feed and then do the surgical? Or even have dh bring you the baby? I wasn't breastfeeding at the time but could have easily done it if need be. If you're at the every four or or five hour point I'd not even worry tbh

If I went for the surgical how long would I be at the clinic for altogether?? I feel like I will be able to breastfeed. I will leave a bottles worth behind if worst comes to worst.

I had a surgically managed missed miscarriage and they did it as a day procedure under GA. I was in and out again within 6hrs.

I understand that in a lot of cases surgical abortions aren't done under GA in which case I imagine it would be even faster.

OP that's what I was told by Marie Stopes.

I've had two surgical procedures and they didn't take long. Think I was at the centre 2 hours max.

I think how long you're in there will depend more on the individual hospital and how fast they get through people. Call and check and get an idea.

I was at the clinic for four hours yesterday for my surgical abortion appointment. Didn't go through with it but that's beside the point. It will depend on the level of cervical preparation you need for surgical. I had to dissolve tablets under my tongue and wait an hour.

For my failed medical abortion I was in and out in 20 minutes as I'd done the assessment at a previous appointment.

Hey guys, I rang BPAS and asked them directly. They weren't so sure about the breastfeeding so I will have a call back, hopefully on Monday. With regards to time, she said the consultation itself will take upto 2 hours. This is where all medical checks are confirmed and scan etc. Then I will be able to take the two set of pills together and won't have to wait. After this, I'm free to go. She said to expect to spend the whole day as you're not aware of waiting times or how busy they are.

I hope it went as well as possible for you xxx

I had a surgical abortion at 5+6 without any anaesthetic and it was very painful during, but after it wasn't

Hi, I'm just experiencing mild cramps after passing a few clots. I'm not sure if I've passed the actual egg but the cramping has calmed down and I don't seem to be bleeding much. Not sure if this is normal?
