How far gone do you have to be to have this?

What does it involve?
Do I take it in hospital or home?
Do I need to stay over night?
Can I still go to work?

You can phone bpas yourself. It doesn't matter how far you live from the clinic, you just go to the nearest one/one that has available appointments.

My 17 year old niece has just gone through this and she was ok.

she was eight weeks and had to go to a specific clinic. She had a scan, had a chat about if it was right for her ect.. Then she was given a tablet and told to return the next day.

We went back the next day and she took another. I think she may have have a pain relief suppository. She took the second part of the pill and they gave her a codine tablet for pain.

She started feeling sick and pains about 30 mins after. She passed most of the pregnancy relatively quickly and was/seemed OK about two hours later. She coped with it extremely well. Hot water bottle helped she said. She also had done strong ibruphen.

The whole process annoyed me to be honest at how hard it is for women to access this treatment. If my niece hadn't had my help she would have struggled with it. The return trips, very long waits in clinic and very personal questions.

Hope your ok op Flowers

Hi everyone. Just updating. I phoned up the clinic, they asked me a few questions and it turns out my area already has a nhs fund in place, so I have to be referred to the local hospital by my gp (which isn't what I wanted really). Anyone know about how long it will take to get the actual appointment.

The week after next I have a trip planned with my son and I feel awfully guilty anyway without having to cancel that for him.
Feeling so awful and haVnt even spoke to anyone about it Sad

It really depends on the particular trust. I would see the gp asap and they will refer you. The aim is to refer you pretty quickly I guess as the earlier the better in these situations. Good luck op, it is not an easy decision and it's not a very pleasant process but you will be fine x

I only had sex 3 and a half weeks ago. Will this make me only 3 and a half weeks pregnant?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/07/2016 11:10

No. Assuming you ovulated 2 weeks after your last period, and that was the time you had sex, you would be 5.5 - 6 weeks pregnant. The clinic would scan you to date the pregnancy. They don't show you the scan like in a planned/keeping pregnancy (sorry don't know a correct term to differentiate but you know what I mean )

Yes it's a horrible thing to navigate OP, but you have made the best decision for your situation at this particular time and you will get through it. Do you have anyone in real life that can support you in a practical way? Also, I know you said you don't want to have to change the day you are taking your ds out but if it means you can get this sorted sooner then please don't add any more guilt to your load, give yourself a break.Flowers

No I don't have anyone to talk to . I have work friends but I'm not close enough to tell them. And I really don't want to tell me parents . I'm driving myself crazy.

I've taken three tests, all of which have had a very faint positive. But I did a test in the doctors yesterday and she said it was neg. she took some bloods.

If been taking antibiotics and I don't know whether that can stop periods. But why would there be faintly pos and the doc one neg Sad

I recently had a pill termination. I was 8 weeks 4 days when I found out I had the procedure. I had a private procedure at Marie Stopes.

On the first appointment I was asked the date of my last period and had a scan. I didn't look at the screen, then the nurse listened to the heartbeat (from what I gather this is NOT standard procedure but was because the foetus measured large for the dates, the nurse didn't really explain why to me but I made it clear I didn't want to know about the heartbeat). I was also asked multiple times if this was definitely what I wanted, nobody had influenced my decision, it was 100% my decision etc. I found this quite condescending but I appreciate it is important in case of abuse/women who aren't quite sure.

The first tablets I swallowed orally and had light cramps but felt fine- no bleeding and went to work. 48 hours later I returned to the clinic with my best friend (at the time the father did not know I was pregnant- I have since told him about it all) and the final tablets were placed in my vagina. The nurse asked if I would like her to do it or would prefer to do it myself- I said I would prefer her to do it. The bleeding was heavy and the contractions were PAINFUL- I was given a prescription for codeine and made full use of it! I was also given anti-bioticics to take as a preventative to infection. After 5 hours the pregnancy came out of me, I didn't look but my friend flushed it down the toilet. The bleeding continued but got lighter and went one for over a week but was like a normal period by that point.

I hope this helps in some way as I wasn't just worried about pain but also what the appointments would be like etc. I would it again if I'm ever in the situation where I need to but think people should be aware of how painful it can be (or was for me anyway). Flowers for you

MrsHardy1 · 27/07/2016 23:36

I agree with ice, it can be very painful. I was told it would be like a period and it was much worse than that. Bpas do a brilliant job but I don't think they prepare you for the actual process (pain and amount of blood). The pills didn't work for me and nothing happened for a week, yet I was never told that was a possibility during the consultations.
