Hi everyone

Id like to start by thanking all of those that helped and gave advice in my last post about being pregnant at 20.

I hope they know how valuable it has been to me.

I am around 6 weeks and I am due to go to alton towers tomorrow !!! already been booked for 3 weeks. ( I only found out about baby 3 days ago!!)

and I am going to disneyworld in september for 2 weeks.

Does anyone know if it is safe to ride these rides? I just need the advice of people who have done it before or know whether it is safe or should i avoid.

Not only are we doing disney but were also doing universal/busch gardens etc

Thanks!!

no i wouldnt think it would be safe at such an early stage tbh.

jendaisy · 10/07/2010 00:29

NO - absolutely not safe at all, the fetus can easily become detached from the wall of the womb so please don't risk it. Rubbish I know but really not worth the risk, I'm sure you'd never forgive yourself if something happened to the baby.

Hi LovelyKatie,

Although some of the rides may not be suitable for pregnant women, some will be ok.
Read here for some helpful info: www.thedibb.co.uk/wdw-whilst-pregnant.php

I hope you have a great time!

AxisofEvil · 10/07/2010 11:37

Few of the rides will be suitable I'm afraid. They will have signs at the entrance to each telling you who shouldn't ride so look closely at them.

In any event if you get morning sickness (which may come on in the next few weeks) the last thing you will want to do will be to go on a rollercoaster!

mummytime · 10/07/2010 11:44

The rides will all have big signs saying don't go on them. I went on them all at about 10 weeks, and had a great time. It is your decision, you could ask your mid-wife/doctor for advice.

MrsBadger · 10/07/2010 11:53

the 8h flight will probably be more of an issue than the rides - get flight socks, stay mobile and hydrated and ddo the exercises they suggest in the in-flight mag

dvt is no fun

MiowandPur · 10/07/2010 11:56

I went on all the big rides at blackpool the day before I found out I was PG with DS2.

He was fine.

goodlifemummy · 10/07/2010 13:50

I will be 20 weeks when we take our five year olds to Eurodisney in a couple of weeks and have resigned myself to the fact that I will be official bag holder!! Just a good excuse to go back! Congrats btw!

addictedishavingagirl · 10/07/2010 14:10

there are a few rides that are suitable, the ones that arent are usully signposted by a red triangle with a white exclamation mark inside with a description underneeth of who can and cant go on.

i went to euro disney when i was 6 weeks pg (it was my 21st birthday present) and loved it! you can still have lots of fun and there are lots of things for you to do.

one thing i would say is make sure you have medical insurance and know what you are going to do if there is a problem.

ie jonny is going to drive me 2 miles to the x hospital.

(i unfourtunatly mc while we were there but dh is fluent in french and knew what to do)

IlooklikeGrotbagstoday · 10/07/2010 15:13

I've just come back from Disney, Florida. I went on the kid's rides with DS nearly 3 but steered clear of anything bumpy etc. I would advise getting a wheel chair as it was very hot and i found it difficult to stand in the long lines.

Definately advise medical insurance and flight socks.

MumtoF · 10/07/2010 17:07

You aren't allowed to go on anything with a tummy bar plus I wouldn't go on anything that is particularly thrilling. At Disney there is loads of stuff to even if you avoid the 'headline' rides so am sure you will still enjoy it.

LovelyKatie · 10/07/2010 20:54

Thanks for the advice

I did go to alton towers today but was too scared of harming my baby!! So I never went on much!!

With regards to Disney....I will avoid the big strenuous rides although we are staying in 'Coronado Springs' the largest disney mod resort. Lots and lots of walking. Which me and my boyfriend love to do anyway until I found out I was pregnant!!

Already tired today!

Thanks 'Shelly38' for that website, its very good

So I can safely fly in september (I am going 1st to 15th) by the beginning of sept I will have only hit 12 weeks,

Flying with virgin...Are they any good with regards to pregnant women?

Definately get a wheel chair then. You get them once you pass the ticket barriers.

You should be fine flying, just wear the flight socks and make sure you walk around. Not flown with Virgin while pregnant but just let one of the attendants know.

Have a lovely time. I bought loads of baby and maternity clothes whike i was there.

i went to disney florida when i was about 8 weeks last year. As someone already said the rides they don't recommend you go on when pregnant are marked both on the map and at the ride entrance. I do think they err on the side of caution tho and did end up going on a couple of rides that weren't recommended but my friends checked them out first. There is plenty of other stuff to do at the disney parks= lots of shows etc. Busch gardens theres not really much you can go on except for the cable cars and train but the animal there are really good so you can spend time looking at those.
