I was just wondering what others experiences are
dd1, 1st scan she was wriggling and moving all over the place wouldnt keep still, rather like the way she is now at age 2 and since birth

I had a scan today for #2 and it was laying there chilled out just casually lifting its arms above its head and not moving much unlike the bucking bronko dd1

does this mean #2 may be calmer??? fingers crossed!

could be. dd quite calm. in fact at 20 week scan I had to have a wee and a walk to get her to shift positions. She has always been physically laid back (mentally is another story, independent madam that she is). She never really crawled, never rolled over but walked from 12 months. She has her manic moments at 2.6 but nothing like the really active toddlers.

I am 23 weeks with #2 and he doesn't stop moving and has been quite forceful about his kicks since about 14/15 weeks. Sonographer chased him all over at the 20 week scan because he wouldn't stay still (I'm bracing myself for the complete opposite of dd). Not sure how I'll cope

DD (second DC) was busy busy from the start to the point that I kept having to go to hospital to be monitorer after every single ante-natal appointment because she always had a racing heart beat. She is now 9 months and doesn't stop - has been crawling from 5 months and is on the verge of walking.

DS was complete opposite, really chilled in the womb and didn't get off his mum until he was a year old.

This is clearly scientific proof so you may well be lucky!!!

bum not mum!

Typing whilst trying to restrain DD...

I think it dopes reflect the later behaviour of the baby but i'm not sure how far on this goes into childhood, i think the link there is less likely.

Everyone i know who had bouncing bumps that kept them up all night had newborns and small babies that continued to act that way. Whereas the more sedate in utero babies tend to be calmer once born and sleep more.

All three of mine behaved exactly in the womb as they then did as babies, and still do now, aged 9, 6 and 4. One hyper, One chilled, and one somewhere in between.

My 2nd caused me problems throughout my pregnancy and now he is 4 and has behavioural issues. My 1st and 3rd where pretty much the same and are quite placid. This one is quiet so will wait and see.

Yikes....I'm in trouble

paddypoopants · 07/07/2010 17:08

Sorry but it didn't work for me for me - ds was v quiet in utero and rarely moved before lunchtime. But as soon as he was out he was a wriggling, hyperactive bundle of energy who hardly slept and likes to get up at 5.30 am.

Not here. Dd was very calm in the womb, but my most stressy newborn. Clearly she didn't approve of her new surroundings! And ds2 was by far the most active inside, and the most chilled out once born.

Mind you, when pg with dd I was busy working, but with ds2 I was lying around on an antenatal ward, so I wonder if the difference was in what I noticed, rather than in them.

DS was manic in the womb, moved all the time, except during scans when he would sleep and nothing would wake him. He's such an active little boy now, even from newborn he was so alert and had a lot more awake time than other babies we new of the same age.

This one has been the same, really active all the time, and also active throughout the scans and midwife appointments. I'm hoping we're having another active one, don't know what I'd do with a chilled out child!
