Struggling to breathe....

Really uncomfortable all night last night!

Am 29+1 and for the first time last night I felt like I just couldn't suck enough air in whilst breathing in at bedtime.

Does anyone else suffer from this? I assume its just because DS was pushing against my ribcage or something - but it didn't hurt at all - just felt like I couldn't quite breathe in far enough? Ended up proped up on half a billion pillows!

Just looking for some reassurance really? Or advice? All seems fine today.

I had this around the same time when I was pregnant with DS. The baby squshes your lungs. Nice. It was difficult to walk up hills. I remember giving a presentation and being out of breath and huffing and puffing all the way through it.

Get it checked out by your GP if unsure though, Im no expert but just didn't want to leave your thread unanswered

Yes, I've had this and it really can be quite alarming when it's in the middle of the night! Woken up gasping and in a right panic! Horrid, horrid feeling. Been a total of about 10 times since I was 22 weeks - am now almost 29. I put it down to a combination of the heat, allergies (get hayfever), and things pushing up. I'm not protruding outwards too much, so I think that baby must be squishing all my organs out of the way, including my lungs . I've made sure that I always sleep with the window wide open and make sure that the blinds still allow air in. I leave the bedroom door open, so we can get a through draft. And when I feel hayfever has been particularly bad that day, I take an antihistamine in the evening. I take loratadine, but I think others are OK for use in pregnancy.

I had this in my pg with DD and have just begun having it again in my current pregnancy at 26 weeks.

I just read about it today as I've had it all afternoon and the book said that it's a combination of your lungs taking in extra oxygen and that your diapragm raises to accomodate baby, leaving less room when you inhale.....?

It just says to rest if you can......so I took myself off for a little lie down! If it's what the book says......
