Posting & running but I've been looking at mattresses and last time I got one it was £15ish & now they range up to £100. So what's the difference?

the cheaper ones are made of foam and the more expensive are sprung. Ikea have a good range as do John Lewis - comes down to personal choice I guess. We went for sprung at £60 last time so i feel obliged to have the same quality for DD2 now but I expect the foam ones are just fine

There was only foam last time round.

Depends what you want - I have ishoos with foam (temp etc) so I spent ~£100 on DS's mattress but it was organic cotton cover, organic coir filling etc. I justified the expense because we'd been given pretty much everything else and I'm really glad I did because he was such a hot baby, that a foam mattress would have just made things worse.

I can't find the link to the company I used now because in nearly 3y the market has exploded and the prices seem to have gone up some!

I decided to stay away from foam, and got a breathable spring mattress from Mamas & Papas for £80 (some of their mattresses reach £350 but that just seemed silly to me)
Will also invest in a couple of waterproof protectors...

I'm dying for a new bed and mattress for me & DH, and some of the higher end cots & cot mattresses were more expensive than the solid oak adult double bed & mattress I have my eye on!
Baby might get 3 years out of it, but I'm sure I could get 15 years out of mine!! (Just to keep it in perspective!)

I'm not expecting 3 years out of a cot!
Dd2 didn't last 18m

We really like ours (14 months on). I was looking for a natural fiber one and found one at a good price - Rochingham Golden Slumber.

I got specially made from babymattressesonline as was random size crib, and I love it so much I keep recommending it so probably sounds like I work for them or summat.

But I got an organic coir (naturally breathable) one wrapped in polester wadding. Lots of other options though like cotton, bamboo etc. It was really cheap and it's so comfy and lovely.

Really really recommend them.

We have ordered a sprung mattress as we tested them in the shop and it was the one that I thought was most comfortable. Especially as DD lasted in her cotbed until she was 4 (she is dinky! ) I think we paid £120 for it but not sure the make and model
