Morning sickness stopped at 8+3 weeks. That's not a good sign is it? Any reassurance out there????

I woke up yesterday feeling grotty as usual but then by the afternoon, I realised that I wasn't feeling nauseous. Again, I have woken up feeling fine this morning. Has anyone had this this early and it's all been ok?

I had a MMC in November and another spontaneous MC in the New Year. I'm very anxious now!

My midwife said it can stop very suddenly and it's
necessarily a bad sign.

I had a MMC in April so felt really concerned when mine stopped recently. It has come back (badly) now though.

Can you go to your EPU for a scan to reassure you?

Lotta123 · 06/07/2010 08:18

I mean NOT necessarily a bad sign - sorry!!!

BrownPaperandString · 06/07/2010 09:22

Hi Lotta - how many weeks were you when it stopped and how many weeks when it came back??

Mine stopped around the same time - when I went skiing! Pop to the hospital and they will probably give you a scan. If you have not had any other problems then I am sure you don't need to worry.

Mine stopped and started throughout first trimester. I was worried, too, and panicked the first time it stopped (phoned NHS direct, went to the doctor, sat in EPU) but really, it's not indicative of anything I don't think. That's how someone people are. It doesn't suggest miscarriage - there would be other signs.

I grew to feel very fortunate that I had some sick free days! And my 8 week and 12 week scan were great.

some people are - sorry - not someone people are!

It may, or may not be a good sign.

Although it CAN be a symptom that things have gone wrong, don't be too worried unless you get other symptoms such as spotting/bleeding/pain, as morning sickness can come and go, as can breast pain - it can be down to what you have eaten that day/the day before (for me, more salt=more boob pain, due to fluid retention, more fatty food=more nausea/sickness, more lean protein=less nausea)
So, it may just be down to diet.

Also, even as early as 8 weeks, the placenta is starting to function, supplying hormones directly to the fetus, instead of into your blood stream (it takes until about 12 weeks for the placenta to fully take over from the mothers hormone production), and the more hormones the placenta produces, the less sick you should feel, as your blood hormone level will platue, then drop off.

Mine ebbed and flowed. Was there until about week 7 and then came back with a vengeance in about week 12.

PickleSarnie · 06/07/2010 18:16

Mine stopped at about 10 weeks and then returned with a vengeance a week later and was there until about 16 weeks. I got occasional days of feeling perfectly fine though.

I know its really hard and I certainly didn't take my own advice but try not to worry.

Thank you all for your lovely replies. I am trying not to worry but it's very hard. I hope I wake up feeling ill tomorrow!
