Ok I will try to calm down, but as usual it's getting late and that's when I start to flap! I still have 9 and a bit weeks to go; have had 2 out of 3 on the due date; any theories on whether this will be another bang on timer?

Anyone give me their experiences of 4th labours and births please? Had last DC 2.8 years ago, but is all very fresh in my mind. He was back to back so very intense no gaps contractions, but looking back the fastest and 'easiest' labour so far.

However, the afterpains were fecking dreadful; I gather they get worse the more you have?

I have heard 3rd labours can be buggers, but it wasn't so bad..
What is the general concensus on 4th labours?

Am hoping this will be another homebirth, but for some reason am crapping it more about this birth than any of them! Perhaps it's because I know it'll be my last.

Experiences very welcome

Hey Catbus, I'm not gonna be of much help as this will be my 3rd labour, but will take relief in the fact that you've said your 3rd labour wasn't too bad!!

My no4,wasnt very good, dont worry nothing serious,he was still up in my pelvis when i was fully dilated,i had to go to theatre, while they tried to push him down, this didnt really work, went back in for a cesar, but before that he moved a bit,and i had keilands forceps to get him out..I was well away on the gas so it wasnt really painful(the actual delivery)..

so in my experience it didnt get easier,he didnt just fall out lol..and i dont remember any bad after pains,i did with no2,so maybe thats a good thing with no4...good luck.x

my mums fourth was all over in 45 minutes - at home, no hassle.

my third is in a few weeks, so hope it will go as easily a the first two (your third sounds like my first, intense, back to back and fast)-

i know what you mean, sometimes i get that 'running out of luck' feeling.

1st - induced, lots of faffing around in hospital, epidural, monitoring etc
2nd - idyllic homebirth, 3.5 hours from first twinge
3rd - homebirth, much slower, had to really work to get labour going, probably my least 'favourite' birth, 11 hours or so
4th - homebirth, v intense latterly, fairly brutal, but quick - 4.5 hours or so. Definitely the one I felt worst after though, although afterpains were worst after #3. #4 just left me feeling quite weak and battered!

Now that's what I'm talking about!! Good luck with your 3rd; we WILL NOT run out of luck; just pelvic floor muscles..

My 4th labour was fine, not short, but quicker than the previous three.I was under a great deal of stress at the time and she came two weeks early! In fact she arrived the day we were moving into our new house - I had hoped to get a couple of weeks to settle in before she was born, no such luck.

The after pains were uncomfortable, but ibruprofen took care of it. I have since had a fifth baby, and surprisingly the after pains were almost non-existent. Maybe because it was 9 years since the last baby?

Good luck!
