I went to the hospital last week with bleeding(i'm 19 weeks pregnant),they gave me no explanation and a day later the bleeding stopped. Yesterday evening i noticed more bleeding and went to hospital, they were good examined me (they bleeding had stopped then tho) and they said i had a ectropian and my cervix looked very raw. This morning the bleeding was back, but rather than stopping its been there all day i dont know wheather to ring the maternity ward again and ask them if its normal or see how i go as i dont know what else they can do. Anyone been throug this?

Hi Pinkyp, i have no experience of what you're going through but just wanted to say that if you're worried I would definitely call the mw. Did they tell you this is a normal symptom of having ectropian? If so, is there anything they can do? It doesn't sound like they have really explained things to you to give you the reassurance you need. Definitely call. Best of luck x

Hi, I have had this in both pregnancies. Much more severe in my current pregnancy, I'm currently 25 weeks.
There are some other threads on here, search under cervical erosion which is the other name for ectropian (I'm afraid I'm doing this on my phone whilst camping so links are a bit beyond me!)

I'd also say to call the maternity unit or mw for a chat, they were really helpful with me.

Hi
I had an ectropian cervix which I had a colposcopy at the hospital to confirm. It started around 7 weeks and lasted until about 32. I was advised not to have intercourse until the end of the 2nd trimester, and then just see how it went. I had this type of bleeding (lasting a day, clearing up and then coming back) and was told it was just normal. It is scary, but was also told if I was ever worried to head back to GP. Apparenty it is very common, so try not to worry.
