HV ante natal visit- what to expect?

HV is coming to visit me tomorrow. I, tbh am quite anxious.
Other than ensuring my house is spotless and worrying what she is looking for/judging me.
What do I need to do?
What will she ask me?
Help please!

Thank you all for your supportive replies. Can you tell its my first? Feel much more confident now, I think as she called today and is coming tomorrow just got me all flustered. I will report back tomorrow and let you know how it went. Thank you again

That's quite late I think I had mine at 36 weeks with DS. Just talked about what would happen after the birth- who would visit me when and what they offered. I also got his red book which I didn't take to hospital but they came to check his hearing and she wanted to record it in there no-one told me to take it to hospital with me.

I have mine in 10 days when I will be 33 weeks, which I thought was very early but I suppose it catches anyone who may have premature babies. Got a letter, a couple of weeks ago asking to meet me and DH, if applicable! I wouldn't worry they are not checking your capabilities as a mother just making sure you are going to look after yourself and that you know there are services available to you

I find it odd that some parts of country have ante natal visits, when in our area not all primary visits are done by a qualified health visitor.

I wouldn't worry about the state of the house, unless your house is a complete and utter cesspit. A health visitor is there to look after the health of all your family. I imagine its quite nice to focus on just you without a baby taking all the lime light.

I had my visit first time round at 38 weeks and also the same with this pregnancy. They tend to see you a few weeks before the big day.

Hi all, quick update- all went ok I think! She seemed nice enough. Gave me the red book and all the other info bits.
Said I had a good attitude regarding birth and feeding ( I will polish my newly found halo).
I am a bit confused about the hearing test- she said if no one is about to do it after birth we have to go back?
I am lost- I thought you had one hearing test at birth and thats it. It appears there is one around birth and one 6-8 weeks? Is that right? I worry

TIA

Am surprised at your HVs coming BEFORE the birth- in my area they are so overstretched I didn't get a visit until DD was a month old, and then I only got 2 visits!

lola they tested my DDs ears at birth and that was it.

DS was tested after birth but she did say that sometimes they can't do it because there can be gunk in the ears so it has to be done again but is nothing to worry about. He was fine the first time and haven't been tested since, now 3 and a bit
