Just in case you don't know, the first style of an induction is something taken by mouth. You are not on a bed or attached to a drip. So you are wandering around the hospital gardens like any normal mother waiting to progress. I had a nice day sleeping, reading magazines, watching TV & waiting for something to happen.
The oral approach didn't work for me so the next day they put in a temporary drip for a couple of hours, then took it off and I was back wandering around the hospital gardens again!
Once it starts, I was told you have to have some time in labour without an epidural as your body gets into the swing of things (its different if you're a second time mother)....so you do get the chance to experience the "joys" of labour before the epidural.
So, I had a good few hours of being in labour and doing all my NCT birthing ball malarky, breathing exercises, TENS machine stuff (and getting annoyed with DH ) just like the non-induced labour ladies.
My NCT classes had made me so fearful of inductions and after wards I was annoyed about what I had been indoctrinated with when I realised that actually there are two sides to every story. I've had three good inductions ones.
(Oh and by the way, my v experienced midwife said 80% of her booked inductions go into labour prior to the induction).
Good luck ladies. Baby is nearly here!
