I have mine coming up next week. What do they do? Will they be able to listen to heartbeat? Also do I get my MATB1 form? Anything else?

MATB1 isn't until later - 25 weeks I believe.

At mine, we discussed my birth location choice further (I'd warned her I had questions so we got a long appointment), she asked if I was having issues, we went over my booking in blood test results, she checked my bp and listened to the heartbeat. I forgot to take in a urine sample and she said it didn't matter so much at this stage.

I don't remember anything special about the 16-week appointment.

They'll check your BP and urine, and will more than likely try to listen to the heartbeat - it should be able to be picked up by a doppler at this stage.

Ask about the MatB1 form - I can't remember exactly when I got mine. It might have been a bit later than that, but your MW will be able to clarify.

She'll also ask all the usual questions about how you're feeling, any swelling of feet/hands/face, etc, are you feeling movements yet (which you may very well not be).

16 weeks was just the standard BP, urine sample checks. She did check for the heartbeat too.

MATB1 isn't til after 20 weeks iirc.

Thanks. In that case how do I get the form for free prescriptions etc?

Had 25 week apt today and was givn matb1, just ask for the prescription exemption form, i got mine at booking in. 16 week was how are you, listen to heartbeat (not guaranteed), check urine, thanks see you at 25 weeks!
25 weeks (while still fresh in my mind) was the same but the added addition of measuring bump!
good luck

Ask your MW for the prescription exemption form - this is completely different from the MATB1 form, which is in reference to maternity leave.

I had blood pressure, urine, listened to heart (although they can't always find it at this stage), couple of questions about how I was feeling. Checked blood results from booking in were fine. In and out in about 10 minutes. Your Health in Pregnancy Grant form can be filled in and sent off from 25 weeks, but you are eligible for your maternity exemption certificate for prescriptions and dental care from the moment you are pregnant. MW or GP should have the form and sign it for you.
