Just found dd to have them, ruddy nursery. Eeek!! I'm 27 wks pregnant, can you please let me know what's safe to use? I'm not in the UK. Can you please tell me the ingredient + concentration rather than the brand?

TIA!!

I know not everyone agrees, but I find simple use of conditioner and nit comb to be the most effective and nothing you're not using anyway. You need to comb every other day for 2 weeks to be sure you're clear, but the first combing will get rid of most of them.

Get conditioner and a nitty gritty comb (google it and buy online) and do as lisbey said - you'll get rid of those nits

Thank you for the tip. Cannot wait to order something. I'm in Dubai, with our slow post system here it could take weeks to arrive [:-(]

Is permethrin an option?

No idea sorry, but really you don't need any chemicals, just conditioner and a fine tooth comb

kittyonthebeam · 29/06/2010 19:00

Thanks lisbey. Have just tried it. Am sleepig on a new towel, too. Easier with the conditioner. Argh, don't like this... Fingers crossed. Desperation has a name...

Is it you're first time? (I cried!) Five years later I'm afraid you get used to it.

You can rinse the conditioner out once you've combed and there's no need to worry about bedding/furnishing etc, as they can't survive off the head.

Completely agree about the conditioner, especially tea tree or something else thats herbal, the nits hate it ... also works for getting fleas off cats!

DomesticG0ddess · 29/06/2010 21:53

When I had them I found a flea comb in the house for our cats and used that as the shops were closed. It worked almost as well as the Nitty Gritty comb. Can you go to a pet shop??

kittyonthebeam · 01/07/2010 04:54

DG, hadn't thought of that. Must have a look. We have cats and we have a comb.

Will order the NG comb regardless. At least I'll be prepped for the next time.
