Hi everyone!

I'm just about to buy sheets / blankets for our cotbed, moses basket and pram...

What is it I need exactly?

Fitted or flat sheets? How many for each item? Blankets.. fleece? Cellular?

Anything else?

I'm very confused and my bump doesn't come with clear instructions about what she will need ;)

I want to just get it all now as mothercare are having a sale on sheets and blankets (or if anyone can reccomend somewhere else?) and also just want to have everything completely ready!

Thanks xxx

Get fitted ones for the mattresses. (get at least 2 of each in case of accidents in the middle of the night!)

Cellular blankets are recommended for new borns - I'd get 3 or 4 as you'll use them in bed as well as when out travelling.

The general rule is that new baby's need one layer more than we do to keep warm so not sure when you're due but that might be a reasonable guide.

I bought cellular blankets for the cot bed and never ever used them.

Once they were out of the moses basket and in cot bed we used sleeping bags until they were about 2 and 1/2 and in proper beds.

Sorry - did use the small cellular blankets in moses basket and pram though.

Second sleeping bags. They are fab.

third the sleeping bags great after the first few weeks.

Before that we had some nice bamboo blankets from Babies R Us. Fell in love with them because they are soft and snuggly and I can't stand the feel of the cellular blankets.

Went fitted sheets all the way for cotbed and carry cot (can't be faffed with flat sheets) 2 of each in case of accident.

i used pillow cases for my moses basket and pram. was good as i used the moses basket for 2 nights and then co-slept, so was glad i hadn't spent money on them and needed loads for the pram as ds was always spewing in the carrycot lol!

for the cot i use fitted sheets and sleeping bags. i wouldn't buy too many blankets as i got loads as baby presents when i had ds. i had bought 2, a fleece and cotton one.

For your moses basket you will need lots of fitted sheets. We only had a couple and found that this wasnt enough. It is advised that you should use only cellular blankets with newborns to avoid overheating. I think that I have about 8 cellular blankets for our moses basket. Even now I sill use them in the pram and car so they havent been a waste of money.

My DD is now in her cot and we use fitted sheets and sleeping bags. We have 2 1tog bags and 2 2.5tog bags.

Evening - agree with Bodinga, we've got cotbed cellular blankets and sheets that were never used.

The moses basket fitted sheets are the same as for the carrycot in the pram so worth having x4. Cellular blankets for moses basket / carrycot are also same size so again x4 (they are only little). You might want to consider flat sheets for the moses basket too to go under the blanket.

As soon as DD was big enough we started on the grobags and continued til she was in her bed with a duvet.

Cotbed fitted sheets x4 too plus a couple of mattress protectors are all you need when in the cotbed.

Hope it helps!

Wouldn't bother with sheets at all for Moses basket - the best tip I ever got was pillowcases! You pop baby in, stick a blanket over if needed, and hey presto - bed's made! It can be very easy to get sucked by Mothercare et al into buying WAY more stuff than you'll need, and you find you just don't use it. Also bear in mind that a cot sheet will fit a moses basket or pram, you just use it doubled... Selling you ones in different sizes is money-making!

And a big agreement with sleeping bags - we started using them at about 3 months and I wish I'd started sooner!
