I'm 27 weeks pregnant and for the past few days I have felt like something is pressing down on my chest which is making it feel harder to breath, when I lie down the 'pressure' feeling wears off slightly. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm 25 weeks and had been wondering similar. I feel like my chest is slightly constricted, not so it is really difficult to breath but more that I conscious of a tight chested feeling. It doesn't feel particularly bad but I am aware of it, and not sure whether I need to speak to dr/ midwife or whether its just something that happens in pregnancy

I get it. Not tight chested, just like I can't get enough breath into my lungs. I don't think the hot humid weather helps. There probably isn't enought room for my lungs already! (24 weeks, nearly 25)

it's where the baby begins to press on the lungs.

It'll get slightly worse the bigger the baby gets

I'm 35 weeks and have had this for the past 4 weeks on and off, it's definitely getting worse and the heat isn't helping! My midwife tells me it's nothing to be worried about and it should get easier in a couple of weeks as the baby drops and there's more room in my lungs again.

thanks, I thought it probably was that, but didn't want to just assume if that makes sense? Feel happy that that's what mine is, although not looking forward to it potentially getting worse . Still it gives me an excuse to rest more!

Are you gettin gout of breath when you walk?

I had this at about 21 weeks with twins, (fourth pregnancy) posted on another forum and everyone said it was normal. I had even seen my consultant that day and struggled to walk across the hospital car park as I was so out of breath.

Luckily I had my 20 week scan the next day and the midwife sent me to the day assessment unit. It turned out I had bi-lateral pulmonary embolisms. I was pretty lucky to still be alive!

If you have any doubts at all, I woul dget checke dout to be on th esafe side, as you are at higher risk of PE's in pregnancy.

I think it's something to do with your uterus being so high, it's pushing against your lungs, and with your body working overtime pumping all that blood, you end up out of breath. I'm 27 wks and have been noticing getting breathless over the last 3 weeks. Great!! haha
