I'm 5 weeks pregnant, just found out and am a regular wine drinker, a glass with dinner most days! Have stopped the wine, but struggling to think of something nice as an alternative...any ideas???

i would go for pimms tbh, but make it very weak, lots of lemonade. or make your own sangria, again, just a bit of wine and mainly fruit juice. a bit of alcohol won't do you any harm occasionally.

I like soda, lime and a few drops of bitters. Bitters is alcoholic but you literally have drops of it like you would Tabasco so it doesnt even register as alcohol (I think!), but somehow it tastes a bit more grown up than a lemonade.

cranberry juice, splash of fizzy water and a good squeeze of lime, saw it on a thread somewhere on here, so not my invention. Becks do a good non alcoholic beer as well.

do you like beer? Becks non-alcoholic beer tastes pretty authentic, and is nice having something to drink out a bottle - it feels more real!
Also, whatever you have, drink it chilled in a wine glass - I promise it tastes nicer. My favourites have been Asda sparkling red grape juice (EXACTLY like a fizzy red wine), Appletizer, Shloer...

I had started a thread like this weeks ago - worth a read -

Schloer. The new Rose one. Tesco have it on offer. Drink it from a wine glass, chilled. Its lovely!! But obviously totally Non-Alcoholic!

(I found that tip in one of my pregnancy magazines)

Actually, I really like the rose Eisberg from Tescos. The red non alcoholic ones are rubbish, though. Tescos also do in some stores a posh dandelion and burdock cordial, which I really enjoyed with sprakling water.

Bottlegreen do a lemongrass and ginger cordial which is lovely mixed with sparkling water. Agree it needs to be very very chilled in a nice glass.

I liked grapefruit juice and lemonade with lots and lots of ice as well.

I've just discovered a sparkling non-alcoholic wine from sainsburys that is lovely! They do a Rose and a White as well. Didn't enjoy the White much but loved the sparkling one. Plus you get to pop a cork! I like becks non alcoholic lager too.

I like Cranberry jusce and ginger beer, mix together pretty equal quantities.
My brother made it for me when the rest of the family were having pimms; I got all the fruit put into it and didn't feel as if I was missing out at all - which considering Pimms is my favourite summer drink is saying something

cardamomginger · 29/06/2010 13:16

Elderflower cordial with sparkling water?

Lotta123 · 29/06/2010 17:51

Grape Schloer. I've found I like it lots now I'm pregnant and having awful morning sickness!

littleducks · 29/06/2010 17:54

I dont drink at all and like schloer and appletiser

Salbysea · 29/06/2010 17:57

I loved G&Ts without the Gs when pregnant, just the tonic and a slice of lime with ice, tastes like a 'real' drink

I used to ask DH for a G&T when we were out with friends pre 12 week scan and he'd know to hold the G, less conspicuous than an orange juice!

StealthPolarBear · 29/06/2010 18:03

if you like raspbery co-op do a nice raspberry flavoured sparkling water

StealthPolarBear · 29/06/2010 18:07

if you like raspberry Co-op do I nice raspberry sparkling water in a glass bottle

StealthPolarBear · 29/06/2010 18:08

sorry for that

MadameCastafiore · 29/06/2010 18:08

I drink lots of sparkling water with either elderflower and apple cordial or lime cordial in - much nicer than regular squash and better for you as no artificial sweetners!
