Nooooooooooooooo it's breech AGAIN!

DS was breech from 28 weeks and never even thought about turning, scanned big so had an ELCS. Was every bit as terrifying as I'd expected and as one of nature's true control freaks my heart has been set on a VBAC ever since.

27 weeks with number 2 and it's BREECH, AGAIN!

I tried everything imaginable with DS and he just refused to budge, the consultant had a good wrestle with him trying to turn him and failed, he was just totally set into my pelvis.

I could weep.

27 weeks seems very early to be worrying about this...?

SoBloodyTired · 27/06/2010 09:07

I know, I know, but DS was exactly the same and I just knew he wouldn't turn. I spent 3 whole months hanging upside down, having acupuncture, crawling around, you name it. He didn't budge. So to be at the same stage with this one and have it lying in exactly the same position as DS was is rotten. I feel like there's something wrong with my insides which makes turning round impossible. Although the consultant had no record of any specific problems. [wail]

From what my consultant has told me (also had breech DS, delivered by EMCS in the end), I think your second baby is no more likely to be breech just because your first one was.

Hope this one decides to co-operate for you!

SoBloodyTired · 27/06/2010 16:51

Hmm, have done a bit of googling this afternoon while DP weeps into his lager, and it seems worth trying a chiropractor who practices the Webster technique. My pelvis might be the problem.

So sorry for you...I'm on the same boat!! 37 weeks today and he's been breech from 26, at least!!
First child and he's definitely refusing to turn down, even after a quite painful ecv!

I've been doing everything possible, from reflexology, to all positions advised...nothing is working...and I soooooooo wanted a natural birth, I'm quite scared of c/section!

BrownPaperandString · 28/06/2010 08:12

have you seen an osteopath? Yourpelvis might be sitting slightly awkwardly, changing the shape of it enough that baby can't turn....

ivykaty44 · 28/06/2010 08:22

what brown says - happened to my friend same as you and after she saw osteopath the baby eventually turned and she had a VBAC - so there is hope. After baby was born she went bck as she was out of line and this was the problem and why the babies where breech in the first place

Stickhasgrownup · 28/06/2010 11:13

Does anyone know whens best to see an osteopath? I'm currently 30+ weeks and its breech. (First 2 DC weren't - so normal delivery).
Midwife said they don't worry until 36weeks - but will it be too late for an osteopath by then? Don't want to pay out and see someone if this one will turn anyway but at the same time don't want to leave it too late.
I had a home birth with DC2 and was hoping to do the same again... but not recommended with breech.

BrownPaperandString · 28/06/2010 12:50

It's worth trying it any time from 30 weeks up to birth. You may need more than one visit or you may not.

sedgiebaby · 28/06/2010 15:44

Have you considered homeopathy, sounds odd but this worked for my brother who was breech (and a big baby with a huge head so its a good thing he eventually turned) my mum took one dose (not sure what it was) and he wriggled all night(post due date btw) and turned himself right around Consultant Ob confirmed at private appointment my mum had the next day. She had him naturally that weekend.

SoBloodyTired · 28/06/2010 18:52

Aha, I can do osteopath. I've emailed the nearest chiro I can find and no answer today

What's the difference between a chiro and an osteo anyway? I'm a bit dubious about both, I like science stuff - although I'm sure one or t'other is fairly widely recognised as useful these days, I know nothing about either.

Thanks so much for the replies, it's just good to hear your stories. It's awfully early to be giving up but I have felt a bit despairing since yesterday's discovery

where abouts are you?

BrownPaperandString · 28/06/2010 19:17

also amoxibustion is a technique used by acupuncturists and i think you can do it yourself - you buy the kit off the internet. you do it about 34 weeks i think.

SoBloodyTired · 28/06/2010 19:50

I had acu last time to no avail but she didn't even suggest moxa. I don't think it's recommended if you've had a section. I don't respond to acupuncture anyway, it was my ultimate last resort! I'm in the Highlands, BrownPaper.

Enter your postcode in to this General Osteopathic Council website to find a local osteo to you.

SoBloodyTired · 29/06/2010 21:27

Guess what?!

It's turned!

Had loads of BH in the night (gave me diarrhoea ... sorry if TMI!) and then realised I was getting kicks where the head was yesterday. Head now gone from where it was lingering yesterday.

Still think maybe a visit to an osteopath won't do any harm, but I've now emailed two more people and nobody's got back to me! Thanks for the link BPS

Feeling so much more positive - I've had kicks today in an area which I've never ever felt movement before, because DS was also lodged in the same spot. At least I know this one can turn!

That's great!! I would phone them rather than email??
