I think this is my favourite pregnancy euphemism. Anyone else have any favourites/ good ones?

My least favourite: "gone", as in, "how far gone are you?" Hate it hate it. Makes me sound like I am dying.

My favourite: knocked up.

catbus · 23/06/2010 22:34

I like up the duff too..
Also, bun in the oven..

thisisyesterday · 23/06/2010 22:36

oh i love up the duff in a jokey way

how about "expecting"

LeviStubbsTears · 23/06/2010 22:48

Am sorely tempted to post 'LST is up the duff' (or 'knocked up', also ace, thanks Jacks!) as my Facebook status once I get to 12 weeks (providing I do, of course ). Haven't had much of any of it yet as only a very select few know, but I can imagine I'd feel the same about 'gone'. Horrible.

Sorry, missed the other two posts - like 'bun in the oven' too. (I think I like the cruder sounding ones best, basically!)

Oh, and up the junction obviously..

Jacksmybaby · 23/06/2010 23:18

I also like the slightly pompous / faux-coy type ones like:

With Child
In the Family Way

Not heard up the junction before catbus!

lilllysa · 24/06/2010 12:09

Up the stick?
Muffed up? (NEVER heard this till recently!)

One that I've only EVER heard once from a straightshooting/crude friend is - Exhibiting signs of man-juice infection.

HazB2010 · 24/06/2010 12:16

'going to visit an aunt in the country' for true 1930s euphemistic style! Love 'up the duff' and 'with child'. Man juice infection might become a new fave though...

5inthebackofthenet · 24/06/2010 12:18

Up the spout?
Growing a bean

My sister is pregnant and her FB status was X has had a baker put a bun in her oven, as her DP surname is Baker.

MumNWLondon · 24/06/2010 12:23

My least favourite is "fell pregnant"

how did you fall? was it not active rather than passive

HazB2010 · 24/06/2010 12:26

Fell pregnant is HIDEOUS!

PixieCake · 24/06/2010 16:24

Love 'knocked up'

Whenever DH grumbles because I'm bossing him around (eg carry this, fetch that) I say in a loud voice 'Well you shouldn't have knocked me up then!'. We think it's funny but did it in John Lewis recently and got a few looks .

yama · 24/06/2010 16:39

How about 'up-duffed'? Not in common use I grant you but I like it.

Ibizadreams · 24/06/2010 16:46

I told people I was up the stick. I think it suits my situation ;)

Can't stand preggers or preggo - think pregnant is a pretty grim word actually.

comtessa · 25/06/2010 10:48

In the club.

LeviStubbsTears · 25/06/2010 18:09

I think 'up the duff' is still number one for me, though there's some great ones here. (I shall have to find an occasion to use 'going to visit an aunt in the country', Haz - fantastic!). I hate 'fall pregnant' too.

Levi, when I found out I got overexcited and put 'is plus one' on my facebook status. Most of my friends thought it was a geek reference.

LittleSilver · 25/06/2010 19:40

You fall pregnant because you tumble, natch

JennyPiccolo · 26/06/2010 10:17

pregboats.
