I am a teacher and I guess I'm pretty stressed, but seriously should I feel so exhausted at six at night and sick virtually all day?

Yes!!

I was sick every morning and felt sick most of the day both times until 13 weeks and upto 16 weeks this time.

A lot of people get very tired in the first trimester too and I found that I would fall asleep between 4 and 5pm if not moving around from about 8-14 weeks pregnant. I had the second trimester bloom and felt great after that. Am 30 weeks now and still not as tired as I was for the first 12. Congratulations!

I was more exhausted at 6-9 weeks than at 16 weeks.. so it is possible and the good news is it gets better!

good luck

Tiredness makes the sickness of early pregnancy worse, try and make time for yourself to rest when you get back from work, make sure you're not low on iron, floradix is a good one to take, not too bad on the system, and yes the sickness is a day and night thing, I have no idea why it's called morning sickness, I always had it 24 hrs for the 1st 12 weeks but I never ever actually got sick! Lying down always helped me with it.

It's amazing though, the weeks will pass and suddenly you'll feel better, hang in there!

Afraid this sounds completely normal! Was falling asleep in my coat at 8 weeks, just coming home, sitting down and closing my eyes!
Am now 36 weeks and have more energy than those early days.
Look on the bright side of "feeling pregnant" - think it is supposed to indicate a healthy pregnancy with loads of good hormones chugging round your system.
Good luck

I think 8-9 weeks was the worst for me. I feel far better now at 31 weeks than I did up to about 16 weeks.

I hope it gets better for you soon.

GavisconGirl · 24/06/2010 11:37

Totally, totally normal! I felt better from about 10 - 12 weeks I think. Before that I was physically pulling my eyes open at work by about 3 and fantasising about sleeping under the desk. Constant nausea was nice as well. I'm 34 weeks with my first so can't comment on very late pregnancy, but my experience is that the first trimester is the worst so far!

Good luck

I'll second all that! 7w plus I thought 'how the hell am I going to get through another 33 weeks of this'? I had to take the odd day off work for sickness and would pretty much fall asleep anyway. Did no exercise until 13w ish when I miraculously felt back to my old self (plus a little bump). Felt better and better ever since.

Good luck though - it feels rotten but is worth it and will go away ;) x

Totally normal I think. I was spending days lying on the sofa at that stage. Luckily it does tend to ease towards the end of the 1st trimester. If you're lucky you'll then get a break before the other "joys" of pregnancy start.

MissCKitty · 24/06/2010 20:21

Yep, i am 8+4 and I am absolutely exhausted. Just want to sleep all the time. However I manage two stores so getting 5 mins to take a break is a luxury let alone a nap!! But the lovely ladies on here have said that things will settle as the hormones calm down a bit. Same with the sickness. Hope you are doing ok xx

I actually fell asleep at the Tate Modern, on the benches in the middle of the room next to the tourists looking at Dali!Nothing could stop me from having my snooze when it came to 4 o'clock...all normal and it does get better, I am 20 weeks now and feeling like I got my mojo back-though I still feel better if I have a little rest around 6pm..
