It may be a stupid question seeing as this is DC#2 but can you really only drink water before the scan.
I did what they told me with DD and drunk 1 ltr of water for both scans and I did for my 12 week scan for this one but what can I say I am a fussy moo and find it hard to down all that water before the scan.

I have my 20 weeks scan next friday but was wondering can I get away with adding a bit of elderflower cordial so I dont mind drinking all that water before hand?

Thanks

Yes. If you've lived in Norfolk for long enough, you remember it as the Norfolk and Norwich. Most old folks like me refer to it as the N&N. The added university bit is new fangled. The hospital used to be up the top of St Stephen's near the roundabout.

I'm so sorry about your 2nd baby. I hope you received good care from the hospital. I've been to their epau a few times and they are very good ime.

How do you like Norwich? Are you actually in the city?

iheartttc, the difference in quality is quite marked. I had dd 3 years ago and probably have similar blurry pics to you.

I turned up to my 12 week scan to be told my bladder was too full and had to keep going to the toilet on the orders of the sonographer as my bladder was obscuring the view! Just goes to show the different rules in different areas!!

Hi Rinny . I was told to drink water too. At one of my 12 week scans I was told I'd drank too much, so had to go to loo and empty some, so for the next I drank less and was told I hadn't drank enough!

Was fine at my 20 week scan though and don't think it has to be water, I just drank a large glass of cordial.

We sadly lost 2 last year, the first we didnt know about till I m/c but the 2nd I was left to bleed a whole week before they booked me in for a scan only for them to tell me what I already knew then they sent me on my way, I think that didnt help me want to start TTC again for agood few months

Yes I like Norwich, we now live over in the old Catton area.
It can be lonely at times cause all my family live in Cambridge so I only have DP and our small group of friends are normally busy and are all child free and have no plans to have any

I had my letter today about my 20 weeks scan and it says 'please drink enough fluid to ensure that your bladder ia as full as you can comfortably bear'.

Oh that's just horrible Rinnyx. I'm sorry.

I have a very good friend who works at a primary school in Catton. I don't know the area well though. I live in a village just east of the city. Norwich is lovely and interesting because of the different and quite well delineated areas. I find it quite amusing the way you can wander around the Elm Hill area/Tomblands and feel transported back in time and then all of a sudden you're back on Prince of Wales with people falling out of clubs and skidding through kebabs.

It's very different to Cambridge though (I LOVE Cambridge).

I know I couldnt believe it and after the great care I had with DD in Cambridge, its made me worry when I go into labour as I hear they like you out about 6 hours after birth due to lack of beds

My daughter goes to catton grove rather than the school near by haha as we used to live further in the city till we sold up and brought a place further out

I miss Cambridge in the summer, nothing beats sitting by the river be it a river pub or on the bank with drink in hand
I'm going back for the day next Saturday to see friends and hopefully good scan result news

I read about the full bladder thing on here, so I drank a lot of water before my 12 wk scan but then the sonographer sent me to the loo because she couldn't see clearly. Maybe they just do things differently in Belgium.

My friend teaches in Catton Grove!

To be totally honest with you, they discharged me 12 hours post emergency cs. DD had not bfed and my catheter was still in. They were very, very busy indeed. But other people I know have had better experiences. I think the hospital isn't big enough for the area it serves. And I still do not understand why it's all consultant led. For a new teaching hospital that is fed by the university's midwifery course, it's notable for its lack of midwife led unit.

You wouldn't consider a homebirth? I think there's a mlu over the border in Eye (the Gilchrist) which you could consider.

I love punting in Cambridge. And wandering round Kettle's Yard. It's so lovely.
