Baby moving in womb

Hi there,

I was wondering if you lovely experienced ladies might be able to help me with a query... I'm 27 weeks pregnant and have been feeling my little one move since about 18 weeks. Lots of lovely flutters at first, and then graduating to stronger kicks. Over the past two weeks it's become much, much more intense (I'm presuming that's because she's growing and the space she has to move about in is becoming smaller!), which is fine, but the thing that's bugging me is the frequency of it on a few days recently.

Most days she's up with me in the morning (if you see what I mean), seems to have a sleep / rest in the afternoon and then wakes in the evening for a bounce about before settling down to sleep when I go to bed. Over the past week there's been two days where she has gone absolutely mental all day and (more importantly) ALL night. The strength and frequency of the movements have worried me slightly as it feels distressing to me. Should I be worried? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks!

Egon x

Have you been eating anything different or drinking sugary drinks? DS used to go barmy fater my (post lunch) Twix & orange juice.

Um... The day she did it last week I had two scones + clotted cream + jam, which sounds a likely candidate and yesterday I had a snickers before eating dinner (God, I sound so unhealthy! I'm eating loads of healthy stuff really, but just having the odd treat now and again).

Would she be prone to going mental if I was hungry as well?

I once ate an entire bag of haribo sweets and baby did a crazy dance for about 4 hours... it's all the sugar :-)

Not sure if they'd get all wriggly if you were hungry though....

Iklboo · 17/06/2010 12:45

Not sure about getting wriggly while you're hungry but msybe if your blood sugar's up & down it might have an effect? Or your rumbling tummy is disturbing her

Thanks ladies! From what you're saying, it sounds like a blood sugar thing. We had an ante-natal class last night that over-ran and I was starving by the time we got home to have dinner, so rammed a snickers bar down my neck on the way home closely followed by rice cakes, dinner and then ice cream! Right, must start carrying snacks with me again to avoid this (I thought that bit was over - did it for the first three months in case I was hit by a massive wave of nausea).

Thank you once again!
