Next? Although if you're looking at the green maxi-dress, I'm 5'4" and if I were any shorter it'd be on the floor.

nymphadora · 17/06/2010 09:24

Not really a dress person but going to have to consider them as they're prob cooler

Think I'm too dumpy for a maxi dress anyway!

haha - I'm 8 months pregnant - I don't give a shite if I look "dumpy" - I'm hardly at my most glamorous phase anyway!

storminabuttercup · 17/06/2010 09:29

I got the plain black maxi from newlook on next day delivery. Theres twenty percent off at the min online too. May be a little too long for you though. Its at the floor for me and i'm 5'6. Have you tried asos?

Kity · 17/06/2010 09:39

Blooming Marvellous have a fab sale on at the moment (online) and they always deliver fairly quickly.
Its usually expensive but have some good stuff with 50% off at the moment.

nymphadora · 17/06/2010 09:46

Mat clothes are so expensive!

Not helped by my new habit of spilling food and having tomato stains on everything

I have done everything on line so far!! I have purshased 2 knee length work dresses at next and a black maxi from next. also I have bought lots of linen and cotton trousers and tops from asos and Very. all very reasonble priced!!

Hermya321 · 17/06/2010 09:50

Mamaas and Papas have a sale on at the moment, take a look on their online shop.

MrsMiamla · 17/06/2010 09:51

mamas and papas have a 50% sale on at the moment. for pg no.1 my whole maternity wardrobe consisted of a pair of jeans. This time, I've got wild and bought new jeans, linen trousers, shorts and three tops all for a bargainous £60

if you're anywhere near the London m&p (regent st), you need to pop in... most of the clothes left are a 16! But I recommend you steer clear of the linen trousers... they won't survive long from having food spilt on them

MrsMiamla · 17/06/2010 09:52

lol, wonderful x post with Hermy there!

NETTEYJC · 17/06/2010 09:52

www.asos.com - They also have some maternity wear in their clearance section. Otherwise have you tried asda?

hazeyjane · 17/06/2010 10:00

ebay.

I have bought and borrowed all my mat clothes this time (no3). Ebay bargains have been pair of Next jeans (Next and Dorothy Perkins are good for shorter leg - I am 4'11") for £1.50, Pair of linen combats for £2, 2 really pretty smock tops for £4.75.

Most people are really good at sending stuff quickly, and because it is worn for such a short period of time it is usually in good condition.

In this heat, I am mostly wearing - jeans/cotton combats (avoiding skirts because of horrendous varicose veins!) with a variety of light shirts, smocky tops and tshirts.

GavisconGirl · 17/06/2010 10:10

I had to buy cool maternity clothes ASAP due to overheating recently - topshop online are good and the stuff I bought is all 100% cotton and very cool (as in temperature wise). They do really nice basic vests as well as dresses, tops etc. If you pay more (about a fiver I think) you can choose the day of delivery, not sure if you can choose next day but I got mine two days after I ordered.

Blooming marvellous's clothes are lovely but a bit more expensive but as you still have a while to go i would take a look esp if there is a sale on.

Floopy21 · 17/06/2010 10:11

I just bought some cheap stuff from ASOS in their maternity section (delivered three days later) & a couple of bits from Matalan (although I don't think they have much of a selection)

nymphadora · 17/06/2010 10:22

Been doing Ebay for weeks! Have a few t-shirts but they obviously arent lasting long with my tomato obsession! I've taken to a tea towel over my bump when I eat anything messy

so far I've managed to get by on long tops and leggings from Dotty P's which means I can wear them again after as well.

nymphadora · 17/06/2010 10:30

Not too bad for pants. I have some good cropped combats and cropped jeans I got in Macys and their pouch isn't very thick so not too bad heat wise. Am constantly running out of tops though.

Gap! Not online though unfortunately.

DomesticG0ddess · 17/06/2010 10:46

Mamas and Papas look nice. I bought maxi dress (also don't care about the dumpyness, it's the only time I would wear a maxi dress and they make everyone look pregnant!!!) and skirt with great waistband from New Look - neither were maternity.

RooBear · 17/06/2010 10:54

I love mamas and papas, bit annoyed that a dress I bought for £50 is now £25 though!

nymphadora · 17/06/2010 11:01

No Gap anywhere near! Just ordered some stuff from Topshop.

I HATE online shopping though.

splatt · 17/06/2010 11:07

Have only bought maternity bottoms and am sticking to non maternity tops. There are some nice light loose tops around - white stuff, fat face, Next.

Bought some linen trousers and cut offs from NEXT and Mothercare. With NEXT I ordered online for delivery to store where I tried it all on and sent the stuff that was no good back. It was in store within a couple of days of placeing the order

nikkisbump · 17/06/2010 11:13

I have found the best maternity clothes aren't actually maternity. Maternity clothes are pretty dull and boring on the whole! (and overpriced!) I have been living in maxi dresses and empire line dresses, and H&M do a fab range of vest tops for around £5 each in every colour imaginable and I wear them with leggings. Leggings are my saviour, although I am 38+4 now and craving my jeans!

Up until about 28 weeks I was able to loop a hairband through my usual jean or trouser buttons and hole to hold them together and wear them with a top and bumpband when it was colder and I wasn't wearing dresses.

Congrats

I went to www.expectingmaternity.co.uk/ - they are on the internet and have a shop in York and love their stuff.
