What's the earliest you've had SPD?

I got spd for the 1st time with dd3, which I put down to short gap between pgs (9 months), 1 year on, I'm 5/40 with DC4 and feeling suspiciously owchy round my right hip which was badly affected last time.

It took around 6 months to get better after DD3's birth (oh yeah, the people who said it got better as soon as the baby was born LIED!) but has been reasonably OK since.

I got spd at 12/40 last time, which i thought was very early but physio told me that relaxin peaks between 10-14 weeks, so maybe not. But 5 weeks sounds awfully early to me.

DH wants me to put support belt on, but trouble is it's not that discreet and am pretty sure colleagues will rumble me immediately, which obviously don't want yet. But don't want to end up on crutches again.

Any thoughts?

Had SPD with all 3 previous pg's. Started earlier each time; last time about 7/8 weeks, only to get progressively worse. SPD is a total shit.

However, each time it has got better quite fast after birth, so in that respect, I was lucky.

Now I am 28 wks with DC4 and something weird is going on. Between 8 to 12 weeks SPD had kicked in pretty badly. Am not sure what is going on, but since about then I have had NOTHING?!!
I mean, I know the drill, legs together etc, but by now am usually in agony.

Hopefully I won't have just jinxed myself by writing this..

Anyway, because many women wear support belts in between kids, I would go for it; I used to sometimes wear mine around the time of my period, or if I had been stupid and leapt over a big gap/moved something with my foot (triggers for me usually).

Fingers crossed for you that it doesn't get too bad, but for godsake use the belt; I did early on and just wore very long tops to cover it!! Good luck

Thanks for that catbus, just want to hold off on belt as is way too early for anyone at work to know! Hmm, interesting!

I'd assume you mean the more general PGP, not specifically SPD, as you mention your hip? I'm 14 weeks and having real hip trouble, for which I've been referred to physio. But I have hypermobile hips anyway so was high risk for issues when pregnant.

I was pondering this question to myself earlier. I am only 5 weeks but am already getting the old kicked-in-the-crotch-by-a-donkey feeling of an evening and when I go to bed.

I had SPD/PGP (PGP is the new name apparently) from about 24 weeks last time (four years ago) and ended up in a wheelchair and didn't give up my crutches until nine months post-birth. I have had twinges pretty much every month since just before and during my period.

I had SPD on my last pregnancy. I'm 11 weeks now and getting twinges.
I don't know if it's just me being paranoid about it though, really scared of getting it again.

I have my support belt from last time and don't know whether I should put it on or not, should I wait until I've been officially told I've got it?

Maybe you can tell colleagues it's just for a bad back?
