Is fake tan ok? And bleaching cream?

I have to go to a work do (black tie) and am feeling a bit fat and unattractive.

Anyone know if it's ok to put some fake tan on my arms and chest? They are a bit pasty.

Same question for bleaching creams - I have dark arm hair that I normally bleach, is this safe in preg?

Thanks

pregnant are you ? I'd say no, don't use the fake tan or the bleach if you are in the first trimester, if it's later, then maybe. Before 12 weeks the fetus is very small and very vunerable to "environomental insults"...... ie chemicals/drugs etc and things that may not harm you could possibly harm the baby, a low risk, but why take it?

Anyway, you are not pasty, you are pale and interesting!

I read the NHS guidance on fake tan recently (can't remember exactly where, maybe someone else has the link) and from what I recall it did say don't use it, BUT not because of any harm to the baby, but because your skin is more sensitive and might react badly.

I have used the "moisturiser with a little bit of fake tan in" type products with no skin reaction. Maybe worth testing first in an area that doesn't show to see if your skin is ok with it.

Ok I thinkthis is the link.

Thanks for the link Jacksmybaby - I've been meaning to look this up on the NHS site for days (got a wedding coming up).

I hate it when fake tan goes blotchy so I may just go for the pale and interesting look as my skin tends to be a bit sensitive anyway!

Thanks for that link. Maybe I'll just use a little bit of the moisturiser stuff instead.

And will skip the bleaching cream (sigh).

I found Dove to be okay - the gradual moisturiser that is.

I tried the St Tropez gradual stuff and have a patch of flakey skin on one of my upper arms that just won't exfoliate away. Don't know if it is harsher or just my reaction.
