Hi,

I will be visiting Dublin for a two night break when I will be 27/28 weeks pregnant. I will obviously buy adequate health insurance, but was wondering if anyone knew whether on not healthcare there is free to UK citizens just in case (God forbid) I go into labour early?

Thanks

Its part of the EU therefore you are covered with your European Medical Card (old E1 11).....or at least I hope so having just spent 24hrs in an Irish hospital a few weeks ago

You'll need a European Medical Card though, so don't forget to apply for one. And be aware that (I think) that won't cover any costs due to you being from another country such as repatriation costs or hotel costs for your OH so make sure your travel insurance will cover you and your family.
