I am so sure it's not from me, when baby was breech the clicking was in my pelvis though felt from baby but I just brushed it off as my own clicking. Now I have felt a big hip like click up high, and I am 99.99% sure it's from baby. It's not loud like mine but you can sort of sense /feel it and hear it... hard to explain. I am 39 weeks on Wednesday and I know baby keeps turning - is the amount of time breech effecting the hips? Should I ring MW? Or is it likely to just be me (although this was a big click with abit of movement right in the middle of the top area of my bump) Thanks.

Afraid i have no idea, but just give them a ring! Thats what they're there for. It'll probably just be a quick 5 minute conversation, and will make you feel so much better.

I had this with DS2. I most definitely heard him clicking in the womb towards the end of pregnancy and then his hips continued to click after birth as well. We got him checked (scan) and he was fine.

The clicking is a weird pregnancy thing that no one really knows what it is - only some women get it. Doesn't seem to do anything IYSWIM.

Phone your midwife tomorrow if it is worrying you.

I was going to ask my MW on thursday the same question. Like you its really high up in bump, almost just below my ribs. Did wonder if she was using my ribs as a ballet bar or something...

Ah, if it's pretty normal I won't bother ringing MW, I'll just mention it at next appointment, thanks

I hear this from lots of mums (I'm a paediatrician and they always ask about "clicky hips" in relation to this). I don't think it's anything to worry about, vast majority of babies I subsequently examine postnatally have no "clicks" on examination. Even then clicks can be completely normal, just ligaments making a noise as you move the hips in the joint - it's "clunks" we worry about, and that's something you feel rather than something you hear. If you were breech late in pregnancy (and certainly if you deliver breech) the baby may be offered a hip scan for reassurance anyway as being breech can be a risk factor for the baby developing hip problems, but even then most are fine and very few need anything done. Good luck for the big day!
