Hi there
Quick question for anyone living in London - any advice about where to get fitted for nursing bras and when to get fitted? I appreciate it is best to wait until as late as possible but when do most people get fitted?
Thanks so much!

Wait till at least 36 weeks, 38 if you can still make the shops.
John lewis are great, so are bravissimo, on st margaret st very close to JL oxford st, but both have quite a limited range, only two brands so if they dont suit your frame, that's your lot.
Get measured at john lewis, if they have your size and it suits, then great. If not, go to Figleaves.com as they stock everything that John L do and a lot more besides.
My fave brand is Anita, german brand and much better than anything UK.
Get a soft bra or vest for sleeping in too!
And don't go mad or leave tags on stuff you do buy just incase you don't manage to BF.

Oh and don't bother with Mothercare, they can't measure properly and their bra's are a load of sh!te, although if you a bog standard 36c for example, you may be ok.

(I got soft Bravado onnes bafore the birth and then got measured at Bravissimo when dd was a week or two and my ribcage was back in place)

M&S are always the ones I swear buy.. although not always the prettiest bras. She told me to come back when I was 36 weeks. 33+5 now and getting in urgent need as my bras I bought at 18 weeks no longer fit. I would agree at avoiding getting measured at mothercare.

Becareful at JL that they don't try and sell you polyester bras- cotton all the way!

I can't recommend rigby and pellar highly enough. I know they have store(s) in London, but not sure where, as I go to their bluewater store.

I have quite a large chest normally (about 34/6 F/G...goodness knows if they'll even sell bras big enough one my boobs swell!) and they always sell me really well fitting bras.

They don't use a tape measurer to measure you, they just look at you and they can tell your size, then they keep trying different bras until they find the perfect fit, and they are really knowledgable about anything bra related.

I used to spend a fortunes on averagely priced JL/m and S bras, but none of them fitted properly and I ended up with bits digging in and general discomfort - haven't had that with any from r and p. They can be pricey (mine have cost between £35 - £80 each for 'normal' bra's) but I'd much rather have a few really well fitting ones that lots that don't fit properly (in which case I'd probably spend the same on lots of cheap ones than a couple of good ones).

Hope that helps.

probably depends what size you are. i have a very small back. neither r&P or jl had one that fitted me. the only place I could go for pregnancy bras or nursing bras was selfridges.

I found both Mothercare and M&S to be awful (altho to be fair with M&S I think i varies widely store to store). Bravissimo were fantastic, but you may need to book.

I went at 8 months I think and bought a couple from Bravissimo and some identical ones from ebay (unworn).

However I was extremely jealous of fellow BF-rs that had bought hot milk bras. Genuinely nice underwear that is not obviously for BF-ing. Hot Milk
