Is it normal to feel so tired at this early stage where you find it hard not to stay in bed all day aswell as feeling constantly sick?
Thanks

congratulations!

afraid it is very normal to feel so tired at 8 weeks, and constantly sick too. try to get as much rest as you can (easier said than done, I know)

you should feel much better in about four or five weeks or so. it just dawns on you one day that you haven't felt rubbish for a while.

Thanks ladies for your replies,
it's good to know it's all normal I tried to explain how i am feeling to my dh who is usually very understanding but i dont think he really gets it to be honest!

It certainly seems normal for me (8+4) God know how I'm going to get through a punishing rota at work next week. The other day I went to the loo at work and nearly nodded off on it! Absolutely knackered!!

NewbieT · 11/06/2010 16:12

Sue, I know what you mean, I am sure my DH sneakily thinks I'm just being lazy.. but then, my previous track record does go before me! Probably a bit emotional and paranoid too... dear oh dear!

zzzzzzzzzz

mummyrex · 11/06/2010 16:16

I think it is about the worst tiredness there is, even your bones feel tired. It's how I realised I was pregnant with my now 2 year old. It was unexpected but I knew I was either pregnant or seriously ill!

ttalloo · 11/06/2010 16:16

my dh completely failed to understand the misery of the first trimester - off your food, sick all the time, completely knackered, not sleeping well even though you are knackered, constipation, hyperactive bladder, funny twinges and aches and pains that you don't know are normal or not - but it eventually dawned on him that I wasn't making it up when I started skipping dinner (which I was in no state to make or eat) and going to bed at 8pm.

harder to deal with work, though, especially when they don't know yet that you are pregnant, and you are trying to keep it together. awful!

Yes

Kittykatzen · 11/06/2010 17:11

I felt absolutely hellish at 8 weeks - not help by 80+ hour weeks - but as soon as I got to 13 weeks something switched and I started feeling human again. I'm now 16 weeks and apart from being tired the nausea has almost completely gone and food tastes good again - there is light at the end of the tunnel! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

berrycravings · 11/06/2010 18:18

kittykatzen you have made my day, I hope week 13 turns out that way for me. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and would love to look forward to meal times again and eat anything but bread! And to wake up and not spend the day battling with nausea would be amazing!

You have given me hope

mumatron · 11/06/2010 20:11

men just dont understand. before ii got pg my dp was adament that i would spend the first 3 months with my feet up. like that was ever going to happen.

sue if i remember rightly, we have spoken before? you are having a lot of medication to support this pg? i wouldn't be suprised if some of that is making you feel worse.

i'm 12+ weeks now and i feel so much better than i did at 8 weeks. i have been able to stay awake until at least 10pm the last week or so!

SeoMum · 12/06/2010 14:33

Men don't understand at all I'm sure my DH thinks I'm using as an excuse as I like my rest at the best of times but he can't sleep without putting the TV on so wakes my up when he comes to bed meaning I am just shatterd still at 12 weeks!
I do feel better than 8 weeks for the sickness but tiredness is still really bad maybe I need a duvet day to catch up!
Congrats on your pregnancy and it does seem to be very normal

PickleSarnie · 12/06/2010 23:07

My pukiness peaked between 8 and 9 weeks. Was scared I'd never feel human again. It dropped off after that and I fully entered the land of the living again at 16 weeks for a weeks of loveliness before the constant indigestion and leaky nips kicked in.

LittleBeth53 · 13/06/2010 00:13

Yes, definitely normal. I'm 26 weeks into my first pregnancy & I was a mess in my 1st trimester - I was SO tired, felt sick, depressed & weepy, I was sore too & cramping (ligament pains), but now I'm well into my 2nd trimester, nearly in my 3rd & I feel fine, great almost. I feel lively, energetic, fresh & content. So it DOES pass, I promise!

LittleBeth53 · 13/06/2010 00:16

P.S, Men really don't get it. The same way we don't get all the hype around football, they don't get our little niggles & kinks during pregnancy!
