Sorry, wasn't sure where to put this thread.

Been trying to work out what clothing I need for a newborn. Due in 5 wks.

Sleepsuits look like the easiest things. Can babies live entirely in sleepsuits for the first few months, or am I over-simplifying things???

Yup - vests and sleepsuits for teeny ones

As you're having a summer baby I would suggest lots and lots of vests with poppers.

You will need some newborn sizes, but only a handful as they grow so quickly. As it's Summmer playsuits are excellent, or just vests. Get lots (supermarkets are excellent for basic white stuff - don't be sucked in by the Mothercare prices)

IMO babies shoudl live in vests/sleepsuits for as long as possible - much more comfortable for them, easily changeable for you. x

congrats btw, I am a bit jealous

Definitely, yes.

Anything else is such a faff and will ride up around baby's ears (tops/dungarees) / knees (trousers) / fall off (socks).

Sleepsuits with a short sleeved/sleeveless popper vest underneath are the way forward!
Tesco/Asda/Primark etc are great for this kind of thing.

Cool thanks.

So are things with feet preferable, or will that be too hot for a summer baby?
If they're wearing short/no leg suits, do you need to put socks on? Or are newborns okay with bare feet?

This is my first and I'm beginning to think that I am going to be the worst mother in the world as I just don't go "Aw" when I look at the array of clothing available.

Ive been buying things with feet but my baby is due end of September. I think it will be chilly by then.

With feet = generally preferable to stop the legs riding up.

If it's really hot then short legged/sleeved "playsuits" (without socks) are fine.

Socks and newborns = really bad combination!
